Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 828

A few seconds passed before she gave his chest a soft push. "Put me down first."

Damian pressed his forehead against hers and rubbed gently. "Then tell me what I am to you now."

Scarlett's cheeks flushed bright red, and she stayed quiet.

Damian stole a quick kiss on her cheek and coaxed her along. "Your boyfriend or husband?"

She turned her head away to avoid his gaze. After several beats of silence, she mumbled, "Boyfriend."

Her voice faded to a whisper, yet Damian caught every syllable clear as day.

A genuine grin spread across his face—nothing like his usual playful, roguish smirk. It was warm and unguarded, his tender eyes wrapping around Scarlett like a soft blanket.

She stared back, caught off guard by the raw joy shining in his gaze. Before she could process it further, Damian set her down safely on the floor.

He laced his fingers through hers and asked softly, "Can you come over to my place for Christmas then?"

Ruth had gotten everything ready ages ago: wrapped holiday cash gifts, custom-tailored silk dresses sized just for Scarlett, homemade fruit brandy, plus house-smoked salmon exclusive to Rivergate.

Everything at home was ready, just waiting for Scarlett to come.

Scarlett's legs still felt wobbly, so she leaned most of her weight onto his arm as she tipped her chin up. "Okay."

Damian flashed a wide, bright smile, showing his white teeth. "Good girl."

He reached out and couldn't help flicking her nose.

Swamped by the sincere love rolling off him, Scarlett locked eyes with him, a trace of unease lingering in her heart. "Damian, I need to talk to you about something."

Her serious tone made his smile fade instantly. "What's wrong?"

Scarlett tugged his arm. "Let's sit down."

Damian held her steady and guided her over to the dining table. A warm home-cooked dinner laid out by the household staff still steamed faintly on the wooden surface.

Damian automatically grabbed a soup bowl to serve her, but Scarlett pulled at his sleeve before he handed it over. "Have a seat."

He settled into the chair and dragged it right up beside hers, their bodies nearly pressed flush together.

Scarlett turned to face him; they sat so close that a tiny lean forward would let their lips meet.
