He stared straight at her, every word heavy with complete sincerity.

Scarlett met his gaze through the screen and offered him a soft, gentle smile. "Thank you for loving me, Damian."

The tender look on her face melted his heart completely.

After a beat, he asked tentatively, "Call me honey for me?"

Scarlett froze, her lips parting, yet she couldn't bring herself to say it. It wasn't the right time, not yet.

Unlike every other time she'd brushed him off, this time she'd given him a real answer. A warm, soft smile spread across Damian's face. "Get some sleep then. I've still got a little work to finish."

"Alright." She propped her phone against the headboard, positioning it so he could see her whole face clearly.

Damian muted his phone to keep from waking her.

She'd worn herself out the night before, plus two more rounds earlier that day. Her limbs felt heavy and weak the second her head hit the pillow. She yawned twice and quickly drifted into a deep sleep.

Damian wrapped up his work and turned to glance at the screen, drinking in the sight of her curled up peacefully on her side. She looked so soft and sweet, and his heart turned to mush.

He couldn't focus on his tasks anymore. He held the phone close to his face and pressed a gentle kiss to the screen where her cheek rested, his voice thick with adoration. "I love you, Scarlett."
