George had never seen Layla so angry. He was used to being reckless, used to pushing boundaries. In the past, when he wanted to shake her off, he’d pulled pranks far worse than this.

And Layla, desperate to please him, had always just smiled through it.

Now, however, he felt an odd tightness in his chest, confused by his emotions.

Layla had promised not to bother him anymore. He should be happy, yet he felt no joy.

As George stared blankly at her retreating form, his livestream fans erupted in outrage.

[Is she crazy? How dare she slap George’s face! Who does she think she is?]

[George’s face is all red! Layla is too much! I’m going to tear her apart!]

A flood of angry comments appeared, alongside a few rational ones.

[Come on, guys, let’s be reasonable. Layla almost drowned. She has every right to be angry.]

But George’s fans dismissed these, with some rushing to berate Layla in her own stream.

Luckily, Layla wasn’t watching the comments. And her growing fanbase wasn’t about to let the attacks slide. The moment George’s fans showed up, the two sides immediately started trading insults.

The livestream exploded into chaos. But Layla had already moved on. She was surveying the shoreline.

She had come to the sea to familiarize herself with the terrain. She was still furious at George for that cheap shot, but she had things to do.

She hurried to a rock exposed by the receding tide, searching its crevices.

Amidst the livestream chaos, viewers soon noticed Layla’s actions.

[What is she doing?]

[What could be in a rock crevice? Did she fall and get brain-dead?]

That last comment was clearly from one of George’s fans, dripping with sarcasm.

But the moment it appeared, Layla suddenly yanked her hand back. With a splash, she pulled a massive octopus out of the crevice.

In this world, octopuses were typically much larger, even those in shallow waters.

Its tentacles were thicker than Layla’s thumb.

Layla swallowed hard.

She couldn’t help but imagine it grilled with ramps. She was already drooling just thinking about it.
