Chapter 119 It’s Definitely Targeting Us
Layla was an avian beastkin, yet she looked minuscule beside the pterosaur. Her entire body was smaller than the creature’s head alone.
“We’re dead meat,” Liam groaned. “The four of us combined wouldn’t even fill a gap between its teeth. I haven’t fulfilled any of my ambitions yet, and now I’m gonna end up as pterosaur waste. I wish it wouldn’t tear me apart by chewing. A quick whole swallow would be so much less painful.”
“You’d suffocate in its stomach with no oxygen,” Shane stated flatly. “Then stomach acid would dissolve you slowly. You’d remain conscious and in pain until you died.”
“Shane!” Liam snapped, infuriated. “That’s not funny! Now is not the time for your morbid facts!”
“It’s simply the truth,” Shane replied.
Liam seethed. “Fine! Then tell me what we do now! It’s far too close-I can already feel the wind from its wings!”
He was shouting, his voice cracking in panic. The gale was so loud that any quieter sound was drowned out completely.
“I can even smell its breath. It’s revolting,” Layla said, her voice trembling slightly.
Liam shook his head. “It’s definitely targeting us. Who angered this thing?”
“Split up!” Layla yelled. “Liam, take Yates and head left! Shane, keep straight! I’ll go right!”
If even
one of us survives this, it’ll be a miracle.
[Oh god, Layla stays so calm while I’m panicking through the screen!]
[I can barely breathe. This can’t be staged, right? Production, say something! Confirm it’s scripted and I’ll forgive everything!]
[You’re delusional. Even if the show wanted to fake this, they couldn’t make a creature like that cooperate.]
[That’s Quetzalcoatlus, right in the middle of a beast horde. They could all be wiped out. First off, we have to wonder if the production team is still even alive.]
[They’re fine. The other cabins are untouched. Only Layla’s group was directly in its path. Everyone else is terrified out of their minds though.]
[Being scared is better than dead, at least. These four aren’t so lucky.]
[Whose fault is it? Layla chose that terrible campsite! And Shane deserves this too for picking Layla over Stella. Serves them right! Just die already! Go get them, pterosaur!]
[I’m a Stella fan too, but this is way too far. This is literal life-or-death.]
[Fake fan! Stop pretending you’re a Stellight!]
[Stella has the most heartless, morally bankrupt fans.]

Chapter 119 It’s Definitely Targeting Us
[Great! It’s chasing Layla! Serves you right! Just die!]
A brutal gust of wind slammed into Layla from behind, sending her spinning off course.
The pterosaur’s massive jaws gaped open. A wave of hot, putrid breath washed over her, dampening her tail feathers in the thick air.
Right before it could swallow her, Layla shifted into human form and plummeted downward
The sudden disappearance of her beast form confused the pterosaur for a split second. Enraged, it dove sharply in pursuit.
Layla shifted back mid-fall and nimbly dodged around a large tree.
The tree directly behind her snapped with a deafening crack and crashed downward.
The beast’s vast wings blotted out the sky as it closed in. Wind from its wingbeats battered the pink spoonbill, hurling her wildly through the air.
“Layla!” Shane caught onto the danger instantly and wheeled back.
But as a snake, no matter how formidable he was on land, he could not fly.
Shane was over twenty feet long and nearly eight inches thick. Even rearing up fully, he only reached sixteen feet high.
Seeing Shane rush back for her, Layla was stunned, then a faint smile tugged at her lips.
To be loved and cherished this much… even if I die here, every moment of this journey was worth it.
“Come down!” Shane shouted upward.
A memory flashed through Layla’s mind. In the original story, Shane’s fangs carried venom potent enough to fell a twenty-ton beast.
Yet the venom acted slowly. It took roughly two full hours to fully immobilize its victim. Viewers had long mocked the ability as useless.
In a real fight, he would die long before the venom took effect. At best, he could take his enemy down with him.
Slow-acting as it was, it was still their only chance.
‘Layla shifted into human form again, falling even faster.
The pterosaur dove straight after her.
Twenty feet above the ground, she shifted back once more, tumbling through the air as she soared straight past the rearing Shane.
