Chapter 229 The Feast of Celebration
Oliver was caught off guard. He’s probably fuming right now.
A smile played on Layla’s lips. “Whatever the case, the leverage is now in our hands. Whatever Oliver wants. it won’t be as easy for him as before.”
Oliver really thought they were easy to push around.
“I can’t wait to see the look on his face now!” Liam also revealed a grin of anticipation.
Only Shane furrowed his brow, a hint of concern in his beautiful eyes.
“Oliver isn’t someone to underestimate. By saying this publicly, we’ve embarrassed the royal family. He might pull some tricks.”
Layla shrugged and placed her hand on Shane’s shoulder.
“Don’t worry. Right now, we’re the biggest prize on the board. Even if the Royal Family is angry, they still have to weigh their options.”
If they weren’t important, Oliver wouldn’t have sent that message.
Layla thought she knew Oliver pretty well.
“Ahem!”
Shane suddenly broke into coughs.
His breathing was a bit weak, and He clearly wasn’t in the best condition.
Worry seeped into Layla’s eyes. “Are you alright?”
Shane smiled and shook his head. “Much better than before. Don’t worry.”
She couldn’t help but worry.
Thinking back on everything over the past days, the way Layla looked at Shane was filled with ache.
Everyone fell into a brief silence.
Suddenly, Layla heard a “growl.”
She narrowed her eyes at George, who was rubbing his stomach.
Realizing he’d been caught, George’s face turned red.
He scratched at his beautiful hair, his exquisite features shading into embarrassment.
“Um, I’m hungry.”
His handsome yet pitiful expression made Layla both tender and amused.

Chapter 229 The Feast of Celebration
“Good. I’m hungry too.” She smiled and stood.
“We just came back from the brink, and we’ve become a new family. How about we celebrate with something good?” She blinked.
George was the first to erupt in cheers. “Yes!”
Layla had always been a person of action.
She immediately rolled up her sleeves, tied back her hair, and began taking stock of their available supplies
As a celebration of their new beginning and of their family’s founding, they needed a proper meal.
Countless dish names flashed through her mind.
Suddenly, inspiration struck.
She remembered, back during the apocalypse, while she was out scavenging for resources, she’d found a book in a library.
That book had recorded many impossibly difficult dishes.
One called Frost-Marrow Roast had left a deep impression.
Because the process of making it was staggeringly complex.
First, she needed M9-grade snowflake beef, with perfectly even marbling.
Then, she needed the marrow from various types of fowl.
The marrow had to be extracted, seasoned in a special way, and then injected back into the beef.
The difficulty lay in this, beef itself was already decadently rich, with abundant, buttery fat.
Injecting yet another high-fat element, bone marrow, meant that if the seasoning was even slightly off, the dish would be overwhelmingly cloying.
No matter how delicious, two bites and they’d be done.
But if executed to absolute perfection, this Frost-Marrow Roast would melt on the tongue, a flawless union of meaty savor and creamy fat.
Layla tapped her fingers together, deciding on this as the main course.
But with their current cookware, Frost-Marrow Roast was impossible to achieve.
She tilted her head and looked at Shane.
“I might need a small favor from you.”
Shane smiled warmly. “It would be my honor.”
George immediately crowded in, aggrieved. “I can help too!”

“And me!” Liam refused to be outdone.
He could not cede an opportunity to shine before their mate to anyone else!
Watching Liam and George put on their abandoned puppy faces, Layla nearly burst out laughing.
But this dish genuinely would need their help.
