Chapter 263 Isolation Beneath the Cliff
The razor-sharp claw loomed inches away, powerful enough to slice her clean in two.
Layla squeezed her eyes shut, raising her arms instinctively to shield her face.
In the blink of an eye, a blur of motion rushed toward her, sweeping her safely out of the beasts strike range.
Dazed, Layla opened her eyes to meet a pair of deep, luminous eyes staring back at her.
A small gasp escaped her lips. “Carson!”
A low, furious roar rumbled from the beast at losing its prey.
Carson recovered instantly, pulling Layla gently to her feet with steady hands.
“Stay alert. These creatures travel in packs. It’s calling its allies right now.”
Positioning himself firmly in front of Layla, he locked a vigilant gaze on the roaring beast, which tilted its head back to let out a long, echoing howl.
Rustling sounds erupted from the surrounding woods one after another.
More of the giant predators emerged from the trees, slowly surrounding the pair with menacing, hungry glares.
Layla’s brow furrowed with quiet resolve. “It looks like we have no choice but to fight our way out of this.”
Her mind raced to assess their situation.
She and Daisy had already witnessed the beasts’ strength-they resembled Earth tigers in form, yet far larger, stronger, and quicker on their feet.
I could shift into my beast form and carry Carson away from here.
Leaning close, she whispered her plan to him, “I’ll shift into my animal form in a moment. Jump onto my back, and we’ll fly off.”
As the alpha wolf, Carson had always been the one protecting others, never the one needing rescue.
A flicker of emotion crossed his face, and he replied in a low, gruff tone, “Be careful yourself.”
Stepping forward without further hesitation, he transformed into his beast form right before Layla’s eyes.
A majestic pale giant wolf reared its head, letting out a thunderous howl that momentarily intimidated the circling predators.
Layla seized the chance to shift as well.
A stunning pink roseate spoonbill materialized at the cliffside, its wings spread wide and graceful.
Bending her body slightly, she waited for Carson to mount her back.
