Chapter 274 Fire
Flames crackled through the air, instantly swallowing the massive tree whole.
The silence of Planet M715 was shattered, replaced by sudden chaos and panic.
“What the hell? Why is it on fire all of a sudden?”
“Isn’t that where Layla’s camp is?”
“Did anyone make it out? Please don’t tell me they were sleeping in there!”
“We have to go help! Grab some water or something!”
“Are you crazy? Look at those flames! We’ll get scorched if we get any closer.”
Opinions were divided. Some contestants, driven by altruism, rushed to assist, while others stood back, unwilling to risk their own safety.
Most conspicuous by their absence was the production crew-the organizers who should have intervened immediately were nowhere to be seen.
Stella watched the blazing tree reflected in her eyes. Layla screaming in agony… that sounds absolutely delicious.
A few people had already gathered beneath the burning canopy, prompting Stella into action.
She stumbled forward, her performance flawless.
“How could this happen?” She covered her mouth with trembling hands, tears streaming down her face.
Collapsing, she wailed, “Layla is still in there! Someone, please save her!”
The other contestants were well aware of the bad blood between Stella and Layla.
Seeing such an exaggerated display of grief, they exchanged strange, knowing glances. Stella, of course, knew exactly what they were thinking.
Through her sobs, she choked out. “I know Layla and I had our differences, but those are human lives! We have to do something!”
Her words struck a chord.
Even if Stella wasn’t a saint, it was only natural for anyone to panic and worry in the face of such a disaster.
Yet, the flames spewed by the Inferno Pterosaur were no ordinary fire.
It raged with an intensity that defied extinguishing, consuming everything in its path until nothing but ash
remained.
By the time the giant tree finally crashed to the ground with a thunderous boom, the production crew finally arrived.
Jason watched the devastation, despair washing over him.
This is it. If Layla and the males with her are dead, my career is over. I’m ruined.
He spun around, roaring at the stunned staff members like a madman, “Don’t just stand there! Put the fire our!”
One of the staff looked guilty, avoiding eye contact. “Sir… the tree is already gone. The fire is burning itself out.”
Jason whipped his head back to the smoldering wreckage. The world spun before his eyes.
He could already see his bleak, hopeless future stretching out endlessly.
