Chapter 32 Do You Hate Me Now Too?
George watched Stella with an unfathomable expression, saying nothing.
Two tears rolled down her cheeks, but George didn’t react at all.
This isn’t right. This isn’t how it’s supposed to go.
Normally, if she so much as frowned, George would be all over her with concern. Now, she was crying, and he just sat there.
“George?” she asked, her voice trembling. Her eyes and even the tip of her nose were red. “Do you… do you hate me now too?”
“Don’t be silly,” George said, handing her a handkerchief. “Stop crying. It’s bad for your eyes.”
“Thank you.” Stella took the handkerchief, her fingertips brushing against his.
A flicker of disgust shot through him.
She dabbed at her tears. “I know how you all feel about me. I really do. But I can’t return those feelings.”
Her eyelashes were still wet, making her look pitiful and fragile.
“George, you should go to Layla. She’s the true heiress of the Grant family. She’s your rightful
mate.”
She’d said the same thing to Carson and Oliver. They’d both chosen to stay by her side without hesitation.
She was sure George would do the same.
By doing this, she looked understanding and tragic, proving just how loyal they all remained to her.
George stiffened, looking at her in disbelief. His eyes reddened instantly. “Stella, are you serious?”
Two more tears fell. Stella hung her head as if she couldn’t bear to look at him, her whole posture pleading for him to stay. Still, she nodded. “Yes, I’m serious. Go to Layla. She’s the one you should protect.”
“Okay.” George gritted his teeth and nodded.
Stella’s head snapped up. “George?”
Ignoring her shock, George kept up his heartbroken act, his voice shaking. “If that’s what you

want, I’ll do it.”
He stood up and walked toward the door.
Stella stared blankly as he left.
No! Are you serious? I was just saying that! How could you take it literally?
But the Vanguard was still recording. She couldn’t show anything wrong. She fixed her expression, letting all the sorrow and painful acceptance appear on her face.
“Wait!” George stopped at the doorway. “I can’t just leave like this.”

A spark of hope lit up inside Stella, but she kept her understanding look. “George, you’ll have to marry Layla eventually anyway. If you go to her now, she might treat you better later.”
“You’re right.” George strode back, picked up the plate of raw fish slices he’d prepared earlier from the stone table, and said, “I should bring something. Don’t want her to have a bad impression.”
He took the raw fish and left, not stopping this time.
Stella watched his retreating back, her calm finally breaking. Her twisted scowl was perfectly caught by the Vanguard.
[What the hell? He actually left? And took the raw fish? That’s Stella’s favorite!]
[Good riddance to a guy like that. Don’t be sad, Stella! You still have Wolf Boss, Prince Oliver, and General Hartwell. The General went to stand up for you. Losing one doesn’t matter.]
[Enough! Do you think we Winges are dead? Stella told George to leave! He leaves, and now it’s his fault? How fake can she be!]
[If he stays, you say he’s desperate. If he leaves, you call him wishy-washy. I’m sick of you Stellights. Stella’s no saint! What a two-faced bitch!]
Stella couldn’t ignore the live chat.
Shane still hadn’t come over. It looked like he planned to stay with Layla.
She’d thought losing Shane was no big deal.
But now George was gone too. Carson had never been that warm to her; his care felt more like duty.
Liam wasn’t the warm type either. That only left Oliver, who was still close to her.
She still had more mates than Layla, but on a show like this, having two guys ditch her for Layla
