Chapter 364 Get the Results

Stella sat on the edge of her cot, tears streaking her face as she complained to Ciara through the video call

“Mom, what do we do? Leonard and Julian are being tested! If they find berserker rage agents in their systems, we’re finished!”

On the other end, Ciara sat rigidly in her chair, fists clenched, her gaze icy and fixed on some distant point

“Keep your composure. Panicking solves nothing. While the residual traces of the serum in their systemy can’t be completely eliminated, I have ways to interfere with the show’s test process. Make the results come back clean.”

Some of the tension drained from Stella’s shoulders. “And Layla? She set us up today. She won’t let this go I’m scared, being here alone.”

“Revenge on her is a luxury for later. Our priority is damage control. Once this blows over, I will ensure Layla pays a dear price for today’s performance.” Ciara’s eyes glinted with cold malice.

She conveniently ignored how she’d treated her daughter, baffled that her own flesh and blood would turn on the family so ruthlessly.

The camp buzzed with restless energy all night.

Come morning, the place was alive with chatter.

No one ventured out for a hunt; all discussions centered on Leonard and the impending test results.

Speculation ran wild.

Everyone wondered if Leonard and Julian had been injected with berserker rage agents.

Layla was up with the dawn.

Seated in the clearing outside her cabin, she gazed toward the distant medical tent, her expression calm and unreadable.

The results would be out soon.

Carson approached quietly, placing a steaming bowl of soup beside her. “Eat something, Layla.”

She looked up, a soft smile touching her lips, and nodded her thanks.

Taking the bowl, she took a sip.

The flavor was surprisingly good-rich and savory.

It was hard to picture any of that bunch knowing their way around a kitchen.

“Did you make this?” she asked.

A simple nod was his answer. Carson settled beside her in silent companionship.

Yates emerged next, rubbing sleep from his eyes before joining them.

“So, when do you think we’ll get the results?” he asked, curiosity outweighing his usual apprehension.

He understood the stakes.

“Soon. Probably by this afternoon,” Layla replied, setting down her empty bowl.

“I hope they come out quickly. It’s time they faced the consequences,” Liam stated, walking/over, his voice like chips of ice.

As a general, he had a deep-seated loathing for corruption.

The Grant family’s deeds disgusted him to his core.

Shane followed, adjusting his glasses with his usual composed air.

“Ciara’s not the type to go quietly-she’s going to try to disrupt the testing process. We need to stay sharp and stay a step ahead of whatever she pulls,” he said.

Layla agreed, “Shane’s right. Ciara is ruthless and ambitious. She won’t let evidence of Leonard’s serum use

surface.”

A hint of a cold smile returned. “But I anticipated that. Emily’s team is keeping an eye on things.”

As if on cue, Emily and Jacob appeared at the edge of the clearing.
