A vicious, sinister smile spread across Stella’s face as that thought settled in her mind.

She dropped her head and shifted into a helpless, innocent act. “Don’t jump to conclusions everyone. Maybe Layla had no idea about any of this.”

Scarlett felt disgusted watching Stella play the naive-victim routine.

She stood up and gave instructions to the show’s staff nearby. “Bring the medical team and run a full check on every single item used during the birthday party.”

Right after the poisoning incident happened, Scarlett had acted fast. She ordered the crew to secure the whole scene.

Nothing had been allowed to be removed from the area. Any traces of poison would definitely turn up during the inspection.

No one else had spoken yet, but Stella had already laid all the blame squarely on Layla.

Scarlett pressed her lips together and spoke coldly to the medical staff. “Poison is in both cups?”

The man shook his head. He pointed toward the glass with no lipstick stains and said in a solemn voice “Poison is inside this one.”

Stella peeked out through gaps between her fingers. Shock washed over her, and she almost blurted out her disbelief. “That can’t possibly be right.”

Scarlett looked at Stella with a knowing smile. “Oh? You sound very certain the poison could not have been in this cup.”

Stella realized she had reacted far too strongly and drawn suspicion to herself. She rushed to explain, “That glass belonged to Layla. The one with lipstick marks is mine. But I’m the one who got poisoned. Could there have been a mix-up?”

She stared at the medical team, clinging to a sliver of hope.

The staff member shook his head gravely. “We do not make simple mistakes like this. This is the poisoned cup.”

Stella lunged forward, trying to grab the glass. The medical-team member stepped back and dodged her reach.

Scarlett snapped at her sharply, “What is this? Are you panicking? Do you plan to seize the evidence so no one finds out you poisoned someone?”

Stella shook her head frantically. “I never poisoned anybody. I got poisoned myself. Why would I do such a thing?”
