Chapter 439 Make Them Tell Us Everything
Cold grimness settled over the four remaining assassins.
They split up. Two moved to lock down Carson and Liam.
The other two charged straight for Layla and Shane, laser cannons raised and aimed at them.
Ciara had clearly given kill orders this time.
George instantly summoned a water barrier to block the incoming cannon fire.
The laser struck the water shield, hissing loudly. Cracks spread rapidly across its surface.
George poured energy into repairing the fractures, sweat beading on his forehead.
The ability was draining him badly.
He frowned, “Layla, I can’t hold this barrier for much longer. We need to strike back.”
Layla nodded and turned to Shane. “Do you have anything we can use against them?”
Shane pulled a vial of potion from his pack. “This is a paralytic agent. Sprayed directly onto skin, it instantly immobilizes a target. But its range is very short-we have to get close.”
Layla stared at the vial, her eyes sharpening, and a slow smile curved her lips.
She spun around and shouted to Liam, “Keep those two assassins occupied. I’ve got a plan.”
Liam agreed at once. Fighting these foes was tough, but he could coordinate with Oliver.
He shot Oliver a quick glance.
Finished
Oliver understood and nodded. Working together, they pinned down the two assassins trying to reach Layla.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Layla pulled Shane toward a shadowed corner. Shielded by George’s water barrier, they circled quietly around behind the assassins.
Suddenly, one assassin sensed movement behind him.
He whirled, machine gun leveling toward Layla.
Carson roared. He swung his massive axe, and the blade slammed hard into the assassin’s arm.
The man screamed. His severed arm, still clutching the laser rifle, clattered to the ground.
Layla seized the opening. She raised the paralytic spray and unleashed it toward the other two unsuspecting assassins.
The mist hit their nostrils. Both stiffened, lost all motor function, and crumpled onto the dirt.

Chapter 439 Make Them Tell Us Everything
The arinless assassin and his remaining comrade panicked.
They spun to run, only find, Carson and Liam blocking their escape.
Carson smashed his fist into one assassin’s face.
The man reeled, nearly passing out from the blow.
Finished
Liam pressed his electrified dagger against the lead assassin’s throat. His voice turned ice-cold. “Talk! Who
sent-”
That assassin was their leader. He looked very calm, and even through his mask, his gaze was icy.
He clamped his jaw shut, clearly preparing for something.
Layla spotted his jaw tensing under the mask and yelled sharply, “He’s going to bite his tongue to kill himself!”
Shane, who was standing nearby, heard this and immediately pulled out a syringe and jabbed it into the assassin’s neck.
The drug flooded his bloodstream. The man blacked out, unable to take his own life.
‘Is that all of them?” Layla exhaled in relief. “I thought they’d be far deadlier, the way Liam got hurt
earlier.”
George clapped Liam on the shoulder. “You weren’t all that tough back there, General Hartwell.”
Liam glared at George, itching to knock him upside the head. “I was outnumbered five-to-one. Did you see he weapons they carried? Next time, you can take my place and see how well you hold up.”
Annoyance sharpened Liam’s tone, and George backed off.
He stuck out his tongue, then said, “Hey, I was just joking. Relax. I won’t tease you like that again.”
Just then, Yates came racing back with Emily.
