The mystery figure said nothing more and turned to leave.

A noise came from outside the door. Shane’s voice sounded right after.

He knocked softly. He waited for the reply, “Come in,” before pushing the door open, holding a paper report in his hands.

Liam stepped into the room behind him and leaned down to read the report. “Why would the royal family get mixed up in this? What other use could they have for the energy field?”

The royal family already controlled the galaxy’s richest resources. They had no real reason to risk everything by seizing the energy field on Planet A13.

Layla tapped her fingers against the table, deep in thought. Her gaze sharpened gradually.

She remembered hints from the original story. The royal family had secretly worked on cross-galaxy weapon projects.

Those memories were faint after so much time. The book had never given solid proof either.

She chose her words carefully and shared what she knew. “They might be developing far more destructive weapons. If they succeed, the whole galactic balance will collapse, and the consequences will be catastrophic.”

Mid-sentence, George burst hurriedly into the room.

Panic showed on his face, his hair messy and disheveled. A tiny Carapax Beetle clung to the back of his hand. “Layla, the Carapax Beetle has come for us.”

“So soon?” Layla narrowed her eyes and set a finger upon the beetle’s shell.

The beetle spread its wings and took flight. It gestured repeatedly in the air, trying to urge Layla to follow it.

Layla frowned and prepared to step forward, but Liam blocked her path. “Let me go instead. I can mask my aura. It would be terrible if they spot you.”

Layla studied Liam for a long moment, then nodded gently. “Alright. Stay safe out there.”

Liam followed the Carapax Beetle toward the location it indicated. He found Ciara’s forces assembling in the western valley-their numbers many times larger than during the last fight.

Every soldier wore a cutting-edge mech suit.
