Chapter 57 What Do You Even See in Him?

[Exactly! Just kick this guy to the curb! Any of the other single males wandering around are far better than him.]

[I agree! Those other guys may be struggling, but at least they look hardworking. They just don’t know what to do with themselves.}

[Girl, you’re killing me! They’re lost and clueless, out from dawn till dusk, coming back filthy/every night. starving and miserable. They’re so broke they’re practically surviving on grass, yet they still won’t quit. have no clue what they’re even clinging to.]

[I know. They said quitting first would be too humiliating. They have to at least not be the first.]

“She’s your mate. How dare you lay a hand on her?” Layla frowned at Caleb.

Caleb’s face darkened. “What’s it to you?”

Layla turned to Hanna. “What do you even see in him?”

[Even though Layla is annoying, she asked the question I’ve been wanting answered. What does Hanna see in him?]

“Hey! Who asked you to meddle?” Caleb grabbed Hanna’s arm and pulled her behind him sharply. “Aren’t you only here to sell salt? Stop pretending otherwise.”

Layla glanced at Hanna.

Hanna stumbled at Caleb’s harsh pull. Her eyes stung with tears, yet she did not resist, merely hunched her shoulders and stood behind him.

“Right.” Layla nodded. She wanted to help, but if Hanna wouldn’t stand up for herself, there was no point in intervening.

Everyone has to live with their own choices.

With that thought, Layla tore her gaze away from Hanna and asked Caleb, “So, are we trading or not?”

“First, tell me where you got this salt,” Caleb said, a calculating glint in his eyes.

Layla instantly saw through his scheme.

“It’s extracted from seawater. Didn’t you attend school? They teach that basic knowledge.”

Caleb took offense to the remark; he had never gone to school at all.

“What’s wrong with not going to school?”

To Layla’s surprise, the one retorting was not Caleb, but Hanna.

The seemingly timid girl had been provoked by Layla’s words. She stepped forward abruptly to shield Caleb, her eyes blazing. “Are people who never attended school inferior?”

Chapter 5 What Do You Even See in Him?

Layla blinked, caught off guard.

Yeah, what’s wrong with not going to school? How dare Layla look down on people like that’]

[Wait, I don’t think Layla implied anything about looking down on others. Why is Hanna reacting so aggressively? Layla was only trying to help.]

[Nobody asked for her help. The couple was just arguing privately. Everything escalated once she butted in

[Oh wow. I thought Stella’s fans were unreasonable, but Hanna’s fans are just as bad.]

[This is bizarre. Why is Hanna so upset? She went to school herself, didn’t she? I remember she’s a film school sophomore.]

Layla regained her composure. “When did I ever say people who didn’t go to school are inferior? I merely stated that seawater salt extraction is taught in schools, to prove my salt is legitimate. Is that clear enough

Hanna realized she had overreacted badly.

Behind her, Caleb smirked triumphantly at Layla.

“We don’t have enough meat on hand right now. Hanna will bring the meat to your dwelling for the trade

tomorrow.”

“Very well,” Layla said, choosing not to argue further. She turned and left.

I don’t want to deal with this mess any longer.

[I think Layla was left speechless.]

[This couple is truly something. I used to think Caleb was beneath Hanna, but now I see they’re perfect for each other.]

[Hey! Watch your words! Do you think Hanna has no fans?]

[Are Hanna’s fans delusional? We’re chatting in our own stream. What’s it to you? Besides, it’s obvious Hanna is being ungrateful. Anyone can tell Layla only wanted to help.]
