Chapter 64 The Water Boy
“Behave yourself. Make another sound and I’ll throw you out.”
“Hack… I’ll try…”
[A snake beauty, too frail to fend for himself!]
[So this is what you meant by “forced love”?]
[Forcing Layla to dote on him; how is that not forced love?]
[Layla herself tucking him in! Get out of there and let me sleep in that spot!]
This time, Shane finally stopped his antics. Layla managed to sleep through the rest of the night in relative
peace.
The next morning, when Layla woke up, Shane had already shifted into human form and was sitting on the floor. Seeing her awake, the corners of his mouth lifted. His tone was actually quite cheerful. “You’re up.”
Layla shot him a dirty look, then jumped down from the treehouse.
In the yard, Yates was already up, and a steaming hot breakfast sat on the table.
A large bowl of soup with some unknown wild greens mixed in.
And a plate of those same greens, dressed as a cold salad.
Layla could tell at a glance that those greens didn’t come from her yard. She asked Yates, “Did you go pick these this morning?”
Yates scratched his head sheepishly. “I didn’t dare go too far. Just looked around nearby. There isn’t much left in the area.”
“Pretty impressive.” Layla gave him a thumbs-up.
Shane had barely climbed down when he caught Layla smiling at Yates. The good mood he’d woken up with -glad to see her first thing that morning-was instantly soured, if only a little.
Just then, someone knocked on the gate. “Layla, I’ve brought you water!”
Shane’s already sour expression turned even darker.
[Wow. The whole world seems to be against Prof. Slater today.]
[Serves him right! Prof. Slater, your day has come! My six years of college-all for this moment! Hahahaha! So what if it’s six years? So what if there’s a seventh?]
[And there it is. Another one lost his mind.]
[He’s not lost it. Someone else has.]
George pushed the gate open and stepped inside, only to see Yates sitting right beside Layla.

Chapter 64 The Water Boy
Both being in the entertainment industry, even if George didn’t know Yates well, they’d crossed paths.
Yates was one of the hottest boy group members right now. His fanbase was mostly young and incredibly huge.
Despite his age, Yates was already the kind of person in the industry that most people would greet with a
smile.
Most people, that was-clearly not George.
[What’s George’s deal? Pulling the seniority card just to throw shade at a newbie?]
[Oh, please. If you’re the newbie, the least you could do is get off your butt and greet George.]
[Come on, use your brain. Yates had his back turned. He didn’t even know who walked in.]
[It doesn’t matter. When you have a guest in your home, you greet them. It’s just basic common courtesy.
Yates stood up at that moment, turned around, and ran over with a smile. “Just give them to me, Mr. Wilson. I’ll take them inside.”
He reached for the two large buckets of water George was carrying.
But George stepped back, refusing to hand them over, and set them directly on the ground instead.
[Go on, George’s fans, keep defending him! This is George throwing his weight around. You seeing this?]
[Poor Yates. Comes on the show and still can’t catch a break.]
[Yates is nothing compared to big-shot George. No wonder his fans will bend the truth just for him.]
“Why is he here?” George looked at Layla with displeasure.
Layla found him totally baffling.
“Do I need to explain that to you?”
Layla had never had a kind word for George.
Partly because, early on, George had never had a kind word for the original owner of this body.
Not that she was trying to avenge the original owner.
Mainly because, after she’d taken over this body, George had still caused her to fall into the ocean.
She’d nearly drowned. Why on earth would she be nice to George?
George’s face went pale with anger. “Layla, you have no conscience!”
“How do I have no conscience?”
She wasn’t going to accept that accusation. “You bring me seawater, I give you jerky. It’s an even trade. You don’t stay in my cabin, and I’m not responsible for you. Understand?”
