Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68 Our Secret

[All those rumors can’t all be fake. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. I don’t buy for a second that she never did any of it. The way she’s acting now? Probably all an act to fool you suckers.]

[What’s your angle? Why do some people always have to assume the worst?]

[I’m just trying to warn you. Believe it or not.]

Sebastian reluctantly dropped the idea with a disappointed look.

“Fine. If you ever change your mind, you know where to find me.”

“Sure. If I ever need it-” Layla started to brush him off, then stopped mid-sentence. “Actually, we can talk

now.”

[See?! What did I say!]

[How could she? I was just defending her!]

[Layla! You’ve let me down!]

Sebastian’s eyes lit up. He practically shoved himself in front of her. “How much do you want?”

He looked more excited than if he were the one planning to slip someone something.

“That’s not what I’m talking about. Something else.”

“What? Name it. If you want it, I can get it for you.”

“Your household has a lot of herbivores. You must know plenty of wild greens, right?” Layla asked.

She’d seen it in the live chat-winter on this barren planet lasted four months.

Starting next month, winter would arrive.

Once it did, there’d be no more leafy greens.

Four months of nothing but meat, no vegetables at all? A person would go crazy.

Layla had signed up to survive a year on this planet. She couldn’t avoid the long winter.

She needed to stockpile enough greens before winter hit.

It took Sebastian about half a second to catch her meaning. “If a cow or a rabbit can eat it,” he said, “my people know it.”

Layla couldn’t help marveling again. A border collie really wasn’t like other dogs.

Look how sharp he was. For a moment, Layla almost wanted to keep him around.

To make money for her, of course.

Chapter 68 Our Secret

“Let’s start with five hundred pounds. I’ll trade you salt at meat prices.”

Now that’s what I call generous!”

Sebastian had brought meat to trade for salt again today, as usual.

Layla gave him a little extra, as always.

“I’m giving you extra, so don’t tell anyone. Otherwise, business gets awkward for me.”

Sebastian was grinning so wide his mouth might fall off. “Don’t worry. It’s our secret. I won’t tell a soul.”

[He is so easy to fool. I thought border collies were supposed to be smart? Sebastian’s not looking too bright.]

[Don’t forget that he’s half husky too. It’s normal for him to be a little flaky sometimes.]

[My boss is a legitimate businessman. He’s never haggled with street vendors. Of course, he doesn’t know the tricks.]

[Guess what I’m seeing? I can already tell how spectacular this incoming dumpster fire is gonna

[What? What are you seeing? Spill it! Don’t leave us hanging!]

Shane returned with Yates.

He took long strides-clearly hoping to lose Yates along the way. But no such luck.

be.]

Yates, for all his short legs, was fast. No matter how quickly Shane walked, Yates stayed right behind him, steady as a shadow, without even asking him to slow down.

Yates knew Shane didn’t think much of him. He wasn’t about to make a nuisance of himself. He didn’t try to chat. But he wasn’t about to let Shane shake him off either.

He never imagined rushing all the way home, only to find Layla speaking to another male.

And the male’s tone? Decidedly intimate.

He said, “Don’t worry. It’s our secret. I won’t tell a soul.”

Layla had a secret with someone else. A secret she couldn’t tell anyone.

Yates slowed his pace.

He could already feel the chill radiating off Shane.

The male in the yard walked out.

Yates recognized him. That was Talia’s male.

He knew Talia too—a fierce girl group member, also a dancer. She had explosive power when she danced. He’d rarely seen that kind of strength in a female.
