Wen Lan frowned. "What was that? One of Fei Mo’s Skills?"
Lu Tingyan nodded. "My guess is it’s furious that the gem was stolen."
Yelias said, "Now that we’ve found who we came for, let’s go! We can’t stay here long!"
Lu Tingyan nodded.
Stepping over the ruins, they were about to leave when they suddenly froze.
Bai Su’s face turned deathly pale.
One by one, fierce beasts with crimson eyes clambered out from the crevices beside the ruins. Their half-human, half-beast forms were a clear sign that they had evolved.
Scorpions, birds of prey, tigers, leopards... all sorts of creatures.
The beasts themselves weren’t terrifying. What was terrifying was that they had evolved into Beastmen with higher Levels than them, possessing independent consciousness and Spiritual Skills.
Lu Tingyan and the others quickly released their spiritual power and entered a state of Full Beastification, shielding the little rabbit behind them.
With birds of prey circling, the sky wasn’t safe either, and Yelias’s webs were limited.
Lu Tingyan’s expression turned grim. "Looks like we’re in for a tough fight."
Li Chenlin scoffed, "You think I’m scared of this?" He’d been in far worse scraps since he was tossed into the criminal underworld at the age of ten.
The beasts attacked, one after another.
Lu Tingyan tilted his head back and let out a roar. The incredibly intimidating wolf’s howl unleashed a powerful wave of spiritual power, blasting away the nearest circle of beasts.
Li Chenlin wasn’t idle, either. He continuously unleashed Poison Gas Bombs, creating a toxic miasma to give his side a combat advantage.
The silk strands Yelias wove were razor-sharp, relentlessly slicing apart the beasts that drew near.
Wen Lan’s tail was incredibly agile, its reach long enough to serve as a ranged attack.
But these beasts were no pushovers.
They unleashed their own Skills one after another.
Wen Lan’s tail was agile and powerful, but the venomous insects were faster. A massive, disciplined swarm closed in on him, their stingers striking his body, impossible to dodge. A single whip of his tail could kill an entire row, but new insects would immediately take their place.
Seeing this, Bai Su frantically worked to keep them healed.
More and more beast corpses littered the ground.
’This can’t go on.’
The number of beasts in the Abyss was far greater than they had imagined.
"Heh, you want to get into the cave? Did you ask for my permission?" Relying on its overwhelming numbers, Fei Mo summoned a huge new wave of beasts to charge them.
An attack on this scale was completely different from the earlier skirmishes.
Lu Tingyan had just unleashed a series of Tearing Space voids to swallow a group of beasts, but in the brief moment he had to catch his breath, even more pounced on him.
"Nngh..." He grunted as two leopards bit clean through his abdomen from either side.
If he hadn’t immediately spun away, the two leopards would have torn his body in half.
Li Chenlin wasn’t faring much better. His tail was covered in wounds, some so deep you could see bone.
He fought off two giant scorpions, only for a dense swarm of smaller ones to surround him. Their barbed tails hooked into his skin, and as he flung them off, they tore a chunk of flesh from his tail.
All of the silk in Yelias’s hands was now coated in poison. He couldn’t retract it, or the toxin would enter his body.
The strands were connected to his nerves. As countless fire ants chewed on the poisoned silk, the agony traveled straight to his Spirit Sea, nearly causing him to pass out.
Wen Lan’s tail was now a good deal shorter; the first few vertebrae had been ripped clean off during the fight.
Fei Mo smelled the fresh blood filling the air, and its fury over the stolen gem finally began to subside, just a little.
"Tough luck for you, running into me on this day of all days."
