Becoming A Tech Tycoon Begins With Regression novel Chapter 155

Chapter 155: A Stranger Dream

"Hello Carver," the person said, "I’m guessing you have a moment for a quick chat?"

"Well, I don’t have much of a choice now, do I?" Reid said as he gestured towards the chains that bound him to a metal chair.

He was currently in....well, he didn’t actually know where he was, but if he had to make a guess, it was probably some type of abandoned warehouse in an unknown corner of Los Angeles.

And he’d be wrong.

Hanging above him was a light which prevented him from making out the form of whoever was sitting right in front of him.

All he could see was a pair of glowing blue orbs which he assumed were eyes, which was a bit scary.

"You’re right," the person said again, his tone sounding completely calm, "now then, I’m willing to give you one chance."

The person leaned forward a bit, revealing the face of a man barely into his adult years, but at this point his age didn’t matter in the least bit.

Reid was immediately spooked by the look his blue eyes held.

"Who hired you to kidnap Lillian Hayes?"

Ethan soon soon discovered the location of Reid and his underlings.

They had been extremely careful, making sure to take routes with little to no cameras around, but their cautiousness was soon thrown out the window when the were far enough from the city.

And they just happen to speed past a barely working street camera and Athena had immediately been alerted.

The location was soon relayed to both Ethan and Irina, who immediately sent some of her men living in California.

Unfortunately, they hadn’t been able to catch up before Reid handed Lillian to the two men.

But they were still able to catch up to the van and capture the three.

Ethan had also requested them be sent to him as he wanted to personally extract the information from them, hence the reason Carver and his men currently sat before him.

"...."

Reid Carver remained silent refusing to say anything....even if he wanted to, he couldn’t.

"I see," Ethan nodded, "you see, I could rip that information directly out of your brain."

He gestured to the helmet laying just a small distance from them, though Carver couldn’t clearly make out what it was.

"But that might just end up killing you too quickly," he continued, "and I don’t want that, that’ll be too easy."

With that, he stood up and walked into the darkness.

In a way, Reid wasn’t scared of Ethan anymore. After all, the most the kid could do was torture him for information and Reid was anything but a stranger to torture.

He was ready for whatever the kid would throw at him but he wasn’t going to say shit...or so he thought.

"You know," Ethan spoke from the darkness, "for a dead man, you got pretty attached to the living in just a year."

Reid was a bit confused by his words but for some reason, he was getting a bad feeling about those words.

"Is this what they call the dead haunting the living," Ethan said as he walked back to his chair, a tablet in his hand, "no, I don’t think so."

"The hell are you on about?" Carver asked, the feeling that something was wrong growing stronger.

Instead of an answer, Ethan turned on the tablet and flipped it for him to see. Blood immediately drained from his face.

On the screen was a video call showing two people sitting in a chair, trembling as they say in front of a woman who was giving them a smile.

On the woman lap was a child no older than three, munching in what seemed to be a chocolate bar.

"Does this help with your memory?" Ethan asked, there was a smile on his face, one that seemed like anything but an amused one.

In just the first year Reid was supposed to be dead, he was laying low in Russia as ordered by Helix where he met the sisters currently on screen, one of which bore him a son.... The kid currently on Irina’s lap.

"Say hi to Papa," Irina told the kid in Russian as she turned him towards the screen.

"Hewo, Papa," the kid said, "this nice aunty bought me chocolate."

There was a small smile on his face as he showed the bar to his Papa, completely unaware of their current situation.

"L-listen man, I have no idea who comissioned the job," Reid finally started, his voice trembling as he spoke, "we were just given a job. I swear to God, I don’t know who was behind it!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Ethan was quiet for a while.

"Irina, kill one of the three," he finally spoke up.

Reid finally started, "Jia—Jia’s the local contact. Jia handled the pickup. The pickup point was an abandoned yard thirty minutes on the south side of where your men attacked us. I have no idea where they took her next, I swear."

Silence returned, as Reid nervously waited for him to say something.

"Athena?" was the only thing he heard next before wa sound came for the tablet itself.

{On it.}

With that, he stood up and walked back to the darkness, whether the sisters and the kid would remain safe was unknown to Reid.

Ethan soon walked back with the helmet in hand.

"W-what a-about them?" Reid stammered, his voice shaking so hard it came out barely above a whisper. "Y-you said she’d shoot if I didn’t talk, I— I told you everything, man. Please! Just let them go."

Ethan said nothing as he placed the helmet on his head before looking him directly in the eyes, "whether they’ll remain alive or not is up to my mood and I’ll tell you Carver, it’s not the best one right now."

A monster, that was the only thing Reid could see before him right now. The kid might look young but he was dangerous....and he still hadn’t figured out the relationship between the man before him and the kidnapped target.

"Luckily, you can guarantee their safety," Ethan continued as he activated the helmet.

"W-what’s this?" Reid finally noticed the strange helmet.

"This is the device that’ll make you useful to me," Ethan answered, "as for what it does, don’t worry about it, because even if I tell you now, you wouldn’t remember."

Before more questions could be asked, the helmet turned on and Reid was introduced to a world of pain, one he had never experienced before despite not being a stranger to pain.

It felt as if his brain was being unfold like threads and then rewired in a way it should be.

Soon enough, blood started dripping from his nose, eyes and ears but the pain didn’t stop, it only got worse as the seconds passed before it got so bad he couldn’t handle anymore.

Reid finally passed out as the helmet continued its job.

Reid’s eyes snapped open, only to find himself in a van with his underlings driving.

"You okay boss?" The one driving asked.

He was silent for a while before saying, "yeah, I guess I was having a pretty strange dream."

Though, he couldn’t exactly remember what happened in said dream so he just tossed it to the back of his mind.
