Kira’s head snapped up. 

She stared at Gideon in disbelief. 

‘I know your dad’s in a coma,‘ he said through gritted teeth. ‘I’m not heartless. I wanted to ask you more questions about him, but I couldn’t. I didn’t dare. I was afraid I wouldn’t like the 

answers.” 

Kira looked at him blankly. 

Why was he talking about her father now? 

‘Kira, you can’t afford this ward.‘ Gideon answered the question in her eyes. how I know this? When I wanted to enter the building, I was blocked by security. No visitors 

‘Do you know 

allowed unless they’re on an approved list, they said. I had to be admitted as a patient to get in. My ward is two floors below and costs twelve thousand dollars a night. A room on this floor has to cost at last twice, that much.” 

Gideon’s eyes bore into hers. ‘Who paid for the room? Your sugar daddy? That was him on the phone, wasn’t it?‘

Kira was so drained that she didn’t even have the energy to be angry. 

She swatted at his arms uselessly, unable to prise herself loose. 

‘Let me go!‘ 

Gideon lowered his head and whispered in her ear, ‘Why should I? I just found you. I’m never letting you go, ever again.” 

He sniffed her hair. 

Then he planted a kiss on the nape of her neck, caressing it with his lips. 

Kira’s skin was prickled with goosebumps. 

She squirmed. 

Gideon held her tighter. 

‘I can give you money. I can take care of your father. Just say yes, please?” 

Gideon let himself drown in her scent, her softness. 

He was finally holding her in real life, something he could only do in his dreams in the past. 

He was like an addict; she was his drug of choice. 

Hugging her wasn’t enough. 

Kissing her neck wasn’t enough. 

He wanted more.. 

Kira’s body went rigid when she felt something pushing against her thighs. 

Was he getting an erection? 

Kira looked down and confirmed it. 

What the hell? 

How could he? 

They were in a hospital! 

Her father was lying in bed less than five steps away!

Gideon lifted her off her feet and put her down on the sofa. 

His breath was hot against her neck. 

‘Kira, Kiki, honey, my darling…” 

He had only gotten this close to her in his dreams. 

His entire body vibrated with the thrill of finally having her underneath him. 

Kira gathered all her strength, what little was left of it, and slapped him open–palmed. 

Tears stung her eyes. 

“You bastard!‘ 

Gideon ran his tongue along the inside of his mouth. 

He touched his cheek. 

It didn’t hurt. 

He curled his lip. ‘I can’t touch you? Who can, then? Your sugar daddy?‘ 

‘Anybody can touch me but you!‘ Kira was so angry that she didn’t know what she was saying. Get up! Get out!” 

Gideon didn’t comply. 

Instead, he leaned forward, their faces inches apart. 

Kira raised her knee and hit his groin hard. 

Gideon collapsed onto the sofa with a muffled groan. 

Kira wriggled out from under him, scrambled to her feet and ran. 

She’d used a similar move on Austyn when he tried to have sex with her in the car. 

His face had gone white as a sheet and he was in pain the whole night. 

Kira hoped Gideon would have it worse. 

Martin, idling in the hallway outside, sensed rather than saw a shape rush past him. 

He looked up in time to glimpse tears on the girl’s face. 

Martin scratched his head. 

What happened? 

Young Master had seemed so happy when he entered the ward. 

Did the two have an argument so soon after reunion? 

Martin stepped into the room. 

He hurried over when he saw Gideon doubled over in pain, his face pale. 

“Young Master!‘ 

He helped Gideon to his feet. 

Gideon’s voice was hoarse. ‘I’m fine. Go after Kira. Don’t lose her.‘ 

‘But you don’t look so well. Should I get a doct 

Go!! 

“Yes, Young Master.‘ 

Martin left the ward and went in the direction Kira had disappeared. 

Fifteen minutes later, he returned, looking dejected. 

‘Young Master, I lost her. I’m sorry.” 

Gideon was disappointed, though not surprised. 

A bitter smile spread across his face. 

His groin still hurt. 

But his heart hurt more. 

Had he screwed up again? 

He’d only just gotten her back. 

Why did he have to go and make her mad? 

Gideon wanted to bash his head against the wall. 

Why did he lose control like that? 

He was planning on taking her home, not driving her away. 

When would he see her again? 

Would she ever want to see him again? 

Kai headed straight for Mr Hewitt’s ward, expecting to find Young Madam there.

She wasn’t. 

Kai knocked on the door of the ensuite bathroom 

Look What Found 

No one was inside. 

He scanned the room. 

Mr Hewitt was lying peacefully in bed. 

Kai did not see Kira’s bag. 

‘Strange,‘ he said to himself. 

Boss had lit a fire under him, ordering him to rush over to the hospital. 

He said Kira was waiting. 

Kai had to forgo dinner. 

But where was his passenger? 

Kai went to Doctor Morrison’s office downstairs. 

It was empty. 

He called Kira’s number. 

She didn’t pick up. 

The ringtone just went on and on until the telco company got impatient and cut off the call. 

“Hmm.‘ 

Kai scratched his head. 

‘Boss,‘ he called Austyn on the phone. ‘Young Madam isn’t here. And she’s not answering her phone.‘ 

‘Did 

‘Did you check the doctor’s office?‘ 

‘I did. She wasn’t there.‘ 

Austyn hung up. 

Kai shrugged, used to his boss‘ caprices. 

He went in search of the cafeteria. 

In his office, Austyn dialled Kira’s number. 

He got the ringtone. 

He re–dialled. 

Same result. 

“What’s she doing? Austyn thought, aggravated. 

He told her Kai would be there to pick her up in twenty minutes. 

Where had she run off to? 

Was she doing this deliberately just to piss him off? 

Austyn stabbed a finger at his phone, pulling up Rai’s number. 

‘Call her,‘ he said when Kai picked up. ‘Keep trying her number till she answers.” 

“Yes, Boss.” 

Basement Level 2, Stamford General Hospital. 

Charles was indignant as he followed Liam towards the lift. 

Their footsteps echoed in the deserted underground carpark. 

‘Old Master McCarthy is too cruel,‘ he grumbled. He flogged you so hard, even the doctor was shocked by your injuries. The doc said they might leave permanent scars.” 

Charles was beside himself. 

‘How could Master McCarthy do this to you? You are his son, just like Austyn. This is so unfair! 

Liam shot his assistant a look. 

Charles clammed up. 

He kept his head down and walked on silently, almost bumping into Liam’s back when his young master stopped abruptly. 

‘What’s wrong?” 

Liam tilted his head, gazing at a spot ahead of him. ‘Look what I found–a stray.‘ 

A stray? 

Charles followed Liam’s line of sight and saw a figure hunched over on the staircase landing. Oh, Young Master wasn’t talking about a stray animal.
