Kira In Bed with Liam 

Liam approached quietly, almost tiptoeing. 

He bent down in front of the ‘stray.” 

The rakish smile on his face disappeared, replaced with a grave look. 

Kira had her knees drawn up. 

She was resting her face on her arms. 

Though her eyes were closed, it was clear that they were puffy and their rims were red. 

A teardrop clung to the end of her long lashes. 

Her left cheek retained a faint trace of finger marks. 

Who hit her? 

‘Kira,‘ Liam called out in a soft voice. 

Kira didn’t respond. 

Charles stood behind Liam, watching. 

Liam suddenly asked, ‘Do you feel a draught?” 

Charles felt the air. ‘No, I don’t think so.” 

‘Do you feel a draught?‘ Liam repeated. 

Charles threw a confused glance at his young master’s back. 

“Um, a little bit?‘ he ventured. 

Liam nodded, Satisfied with his answer. ‘It’s cold out here. She’s going to wake up headache. We shouldn’t let someone sleep out in the open like this, should we?”

‘Um, we probably shouldn’t.‘ 

“That’s right.‘ Liam picked Kira up in his arms. “This shall be my one act of kindness of the day then.‘ 

‘Young Master, please let me carry her. Your injuries…” 

‘I’m fine. It’s just a few lashings on my back. My arms work fine.” 

Liam started walking towards his car. ‘Open the door.” 

‘But, Young Master, we came here for a checkup! You haven’t even seen the doctor yet.” 

‘Don’t make me repeat myself.” 

Charles sighed. ‘Yes, Young Master.” 

He unlocked the Bentley he’d locked just a minute ago. 

Liam helped Kira settle into the backseat and joined her there. 

‘Drive back to the house.” 

‘Yes, Young Master.” 

Kai was grousing. 

He was the personal assistant of Mr Austyn McCarthy, president of the prestigious M Group. 

He was ranked way up there on the office totem pole. 

But now he was reduced to doing the job of a telemarketer. 

He dialled Kira’s number again, expecting it to go to voicemail, just like the previous ninety- 

nine times. 

He decided to give it another five tries and call it quits if Kira still didn’t pick up. 

‘Hello?‘ 

‘Young Madam!‘ Kai was relieved. 

‘Um, no. I just found this phone under the bed.‘ 

‘Er, may I ask you are?” 

‘I’m a nurse working at Stamford General. I was doing my rounds when I heard the phone ring., 

“The room you found the phone in, it wouldn’t happen to be the ward of a Mr Leland Hewitt, would it?” 

‘Yes. Then you probably know whoever it is that dropped their phone here. A family member, I guess?‘ 

‘Yes. Um, miss, could you stay there for a minute longer? I’m at the hospital café. I’ll be right up.‘ 

Kai stood up. 

He called Austyn while he was waiting for the lift 

He recounted what the nurse said. 

‘She’s not in the ward, but her phone is?‘ Austyn didn’t sound happy over the phone. 

“It seems so. 

‘You didn’t go into the ward when you arrived?‘ 

‘I did, but I didn’t look under the bed. There didn’t seem to be any point in doing so…” 

‘Stay there. Don’t go anywhere.” 

‘You’re coming here, Boss?” 

‘I have to, don’t 1? You botched a simple pick–up job. I shudder to think what’s going to happen if I leave you alone at the hospital for any longer.” 

Kai winced. 

Boss had a quick wit and an even sharper tongue. 

He pitied Young Madam, who had to spend every day with Boss. 

The assistant–cum–telemarketer got into the lift. 

Maybe Boss would go easy on him if he retrieved Young Madam’s phone in one piece. 

Kira opened her eyes and found herself in an unfamiliar room. 

She was lying on her back, staring up at a soft beige ceiling. 

The bed underneath her was so soft that her body seemed to sink into the mattress. 

The sheets were white cotton, not satin. 

She froze when she felt a puff of warm air blowing on her face. 

She turned her head and came face to face with a man. 

The tips of their noses almost touched. 

The man’s eyes were closed. 

The corners of his lips were curved upwards, as if he was smiling in his dream. 

‘Aaaaaahh!‘ 

Kira shrieked, scrambling to sit up. 

Liam? 

What was he doing here? 

Where the hell was she? 

How did they end up in the same bed? 

What happened? 

Black spots swam in front of Kira’s eyes. 

She sat up too fast and got a head rush. 

Liam’s eyelashes fluttered. 

He opened his eyes. 

His smile broadened into agrin. 

‘Good evening.” 

‘Good nothing! How…What…Why…‘ Kira was so flustered, she couldn’t form a coherent 

sentence. 

Her finger, pointed at Liam, was shaking. 

Liam laced both hands behind his head, smiling lazily. ‘Yes, it’s like what you see. We slept together.‘ 

“No!‘ Kira shook her head vehemently. ‘That’s not possible!‘ 

Liam sat up. 

The quilt slipped down, revealing his muscular chest and sculpted abs, 

He was naked! 

Kira was struck dumb. 

Liam savoured the incredulous look on her face. 

He was enjoying this. 

‘I ran into you at the hospital,‘ he said. ‘You were sleeping on the staircase landing in the carpark. Either sleeping or passed out, I couldn’t be sure. But you sure looked like a mess. Being a Good Samaritan, I brought you back to my place. Can’t leave an unconscious,
