Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 270

Sienna quietly observed Celeste's tear-stained face.

The profound grief and pity plastered across her features felt entirely contrived.

Every ounce of emotion looked like a carefully rehearsed performance.

If Sienna hadn't already endured the hell of being ruthlessly sabotaged by this two-faced woman.

She might have actually believed the fragile, heartbroken act.

But she knew Celeste all too well.

Beneath those seemingly innocent eyes lay a bottomless undercurrent of malice.

Just then, a set of strong, well-defined fingers gently pressed against Sienna's arm.

She turned her head, realizing Jarred had silently stepped up beside her.

His face gave away nothing.

Yet, within his dark gaze, something indiscernible churned.

"I'm going to check on Grandpa," he murmured. "Wait for me here. I'll call you if I need you."

Sienna gave a slight nod, silently watching him head upstairs.

Once Jarred left, the extended family elders followed suit to check on the old man.

The living room instantly felt emptier.

Only then did Helena finally notice Sienna standing there.

Her expression immediately hardened, her eyes filled with disgust.

"Who let this lunatic in?"

She marched forward, turning to snap at the maids. "She's enough to give a perfectly healthy person a heart attack! What are you all getting paid for?"

Sienna had never been one to tolerate Helena's tantrums.

Helena's breathing steadied slightly, though she still shot Sienna a murderous glare.

It was a look that wished she could burn holes right through her.

Celeste finally turned her attention to Sienna. Her tone sounded diplomatic, but every word dripped with poison.

"Ms. Sloan, you've already taken more than enough from the Sterlings. Why do you insist on continuously provoking Helena and making everyone so miserable?"

Celeste stared at her, a faint smirk flashing in her eyes. "A person can be poor and ordinary, but they shouldn't be entirely shameless."

Sienna's lips curled into a sarcastic smile, her gaze turning frosty.

"Then do you mind lending me some of your dignity? From where I'm standing, yours is layered on so thick that you wouldn't miss a few pieces."

Celeste's gentle facade instantly froze, her expression darkening as her mask nearly slipped.

Seeing this, Helena immediately shielded Celeste, screaming at Sienna, "Shut your mouth! You shameless bitch!"

Sienna's smile didn't waver, adding a touch of deliberate amusement. "Since you consider me so cheap, you must be quite expensive. How much for a night?"
