Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 327

Hatred radiated in violent waves from Celeste’s eyes.

Her otherwise pretty face contorted into something genuinely grotesque.

"Sienna, you are never going to have a better life than me. Anything I can't have, I'll make damn sure you can't have either.

You could have stayed out of it, but you kept ruining my plans over and over. You signed your own death warrant. What was I supposed to do?

I'm going to watch the man you love destroy you piece by piece. Or rather, I'll watch the people who care about you drop dead because of you.

I'm not the one killing them. They're dying because they got too close to you."

As she spat out those words, a terrifying, poisonous malice settled into Celeste's gaze.

It wasn't the look of a sane person; it resembled filthy, putrid sludge bubbling up from the darkest depths of an abyss.

Sienna had never seen such concentrated, toxic hatred in anyone’s eyes before.

Strangely, however, the hatred didn't entirely seem directed at her.

Sienna frowned slightly.

She couldn't understand what possible reason Celeste had to despise the Sterling family.

The Sterlings had been nothing but her absolute saviors when she was at her lowest.

Jarred had given her endless indulgence, Helena and the grandmother had showered her with warmth, and even Grandpa had never been anything but generous to her.

Shoving her suspicions aside, Sienna maintained her perfectly composed, perceptive demeanor.

She looked at the increasingly deranged Celeste and spoke slowly. "You resent Jarred because he could have given you everything, but he refused. So since you can't have him, you don't want him to have anyone else.

You hate me because I ended up marrying the man you thought was yours."

She looked directly into Celeste’s eyes, devoid of any unnecessary emotion.

"Even the grandfather you supposedly respected so much completely refused to add your name to the family registry in the end."

A brief flicker of vulnerability crossed Celeste's eyes.
