Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 345

At best, he'd get a severe demerit; at worst, he'd be kicked off the force.

His boss had been the gold standard since joining the squad, never once letting personal matters drag down the team.

Hearing her words, Jarred spun around, his dark eyes locking fiercely onto Sienna. The icy storm in his gaze offered zero compromise.

The two stared each other down across the short distance, neither speaking first.

Sienna easily read the look in his eyes: What gave her the right to make decisions for him?

Meeting his freezing stare, she spoke calmly: "You begged me repeatedly to join this mission, and I only agreed as a favor.

If you insist on taking her today, don't ever ask me to collaborate on something like this again."

She spoke lightly, but the weight of her words was immense.

Jarred's frown deepened.

Ever since Sienna brought up the divorce, she had used work as an excuse to avoid any contact with him.

She wouldn't even go on missions with him anymore.

He had looked for countless opportunities for them to work together and begged her so many times, but she had ruthlessly turned him down.

This was the one and only time she had finally relented.

If he screwed this up, given her temper, there wouldn't even be room for discussion in the future.

Celeste could feel Jarred's body go rigid.

She immediately squeezed out a few more tears, weakly clutching his arm, her voice so faint it was barely audible.

"Jarred... I'm so dizzy... really dizzy..."

Jarred's eyes remained fixed on Sienna's pretty face.

"Swap me out," he finally said, his voice entirely void of emotion.

He set Celeste down carefully. His movements weren't exactly gentle, but they were secure. He turned to Declan and ordered, "Arrange for someone to take Ms. Carlyle to the hospital. Do a full set of tests and send me the results."

"Yes, sir." Declan hurried forward to support her.
