Sienna shrugged and glanced at him, her expression so calm there wasn't a single ripple.
"The old estate? I can barely remember where it was. Grandpa sold it when he brought me to the Capital. That was years ago."
Jarred's gaze lingered on her face for a few seconds.
Her reaction was far too natural, so perfect he couldn't find a single flaw.
He started to think he was just overthinking things.
"What?" Sienna raised an eyebrow. "Is Captain Sterling running a background check on me now?"
Jarred looked away, the corner of his mouth curving slightly. "Just asking. Why are you so nervous?"
"Me, nervous?" Sienna laughed. "Have you ever seen anyone look this relaxed when they're nervous?"
Jarred didn't respond.
Sienna caught the faint, lingering smile on his lips and indifferently looked away.
They arrived at the police station to assemble for boarding, and the team members took their respective positions.
Sienna walked into the building and headed straight for the restroom at the end of the hall.
Leaning against the sink, she unlocked her phone just as a text from Thea Stanton popped up.
[We've found the informant. Henry Holden is keeping an eye on him.]
Staring at the screen, a small smile touched Sienna's lips.
Everything was going exactly as planned.
She quickly replied: [Haven't boarded yet. Don't alert the enemy.]
Thea replied instantly: [Everything is ready. Give me the word when the time is right.]
Sienna sent an "OK," exited the chat, and deleted the entire conversation history.
She adjusted her collar in the mirror, making sure nothing looked out of place, before pushing the door open and walking out.
Sienna boarded the plane and found a seat in the corner.
She opened her laptop to prep for the mission.
Jarred walked in without her noticing.
