Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 397

"Just now, Daisy grabbed my sleeve."

Jarred stared into her cool eyes, offering a low explanation wrapped in his signature domineering arrogance.

"She grew up in my home. From the very beginning, I've only ever viewed her as a helpless girl I needed to look after.

That's it. I have never had any inappropriate thoughts about her.

Sienna, don't throw a fit and fight with me over someone completely irrelevant."

Sienna just felt a wave of sheer, physical revulsion, an intense nausea churning in her stomach.

A helpless girl.

What an all-purpose, absolutely disgusting excuse.

In the past, Celeste was the helpless girl he needed to indulge and spoil.

Now, Daisy was his innocent, fragile girl who needed his ultimate protection.

Up and down the Sterling family, there were simply way too many of these so-called 'helpless girls' swarming around him, so many it made her sick.

"A helpless girl..."

Sienna smiled thinly, dragging out her words with a sarcastic, mocking lilt.

"Aren't they just meant to be spoiled? As if I don't understand the beloved traditions of the Sterlings."

She emphasized the word 'spoiled' heavily, making the bitter sarcasm impossible to miss.

Jarred's gaze instantly turned pitch-black, every shred of warmth vanishing from his eyes.

"You know I hate it when you say things like that." His voice was incredibly low, sounding as if it were squeezed directly from his chest.

Sienna let out a mocking laugh.

"You hate hearing me say it?"

She tilted her head, looking at him with an expression of almost childlike innocence. "What... do you want me to sing it to you instead?"

Jarred's face completely darkened like a frozen lake, an overwhelming oppressiveness swirling in his eyes.

Staring at his furious face, Sienna smirked with total indifference. "Are you even worthy?"

The moment she said that, she yanked her arm back, cleanly and effortlessly shaking off his grip on her wrist.

Her force was cold and decisive, leaving absolutely no room for negotiation.

Sienna didn't spare him another glance. She turned, pulled the car door open, and her driver quickly started the engine.
