Constantly drifting between the boundaries of legal and illegal, he was the most mysterious and unpredictable figure in the Capital.
Right now, he was lounging casually on the sofa.
His fingertips lightly rested against the rim of his cup, his gaze casually landing on Sienna as she pushed the door open.
"Ms. Sloan." His voice was deep and lazy. "I knew you would come looking for me."
Sienna's posture was flawlessly poised, her simple outfit making her clear eyes look even sharper and more aloof.
She didn't speak. Upon entering, her eyes quickly swept over the freshly brewed Earl Grey on the table.
She then indifferently pulled her gaze away, showing absolutely zero intention of sitting down to share a drink.
Seeing this, Silas let out a low chuckle, his husky, magnetic voice laced with amusement. "Afraid I poisoned it?"
"Afraid you rigged it," Sienna replied, staring directly at him. "You don't need to poison the drink. You yourself are entirely toxic."
Her words were blunt and razor-sharp.
Far from being offended, Silas was deeply amused by her.
Laughter spilled from his eyes, radiating genuine delight.
"Sienna, no wonder men can't remember other women but remain completely obsessed with you. Even when you're insulting someone, you sound gorgeous."
"I'm not here to hurl insults at you."
Having no patience for small talk, Sienna cut straight to the chase. "I'm here to bring you business. There's money on the table, and I figure I might as well let you profit first."
She pulled her phone from her purse and opened her photo gallery.
Swiping to the photo of Mrs. Bridges' letter, she slid the phone to the center of the coffee table.
"This letter has a forgery accuracy rate of at least ninety-five percent. The craftsmanship is top-tier; even professional analysts on the open market struggle to tell it's a fake.
In the entire Capital, you are the only one with access to this level of underground counterfeiting networks. Help me dig out the mastermind behind this forgery."
Silas lowered his eyes, his long fingers swiping across the screen.
His gaze meticulously scanned the handwriting and the minute details of the paper grain.
A moment later, he looked up, a shallow smile dancing in his eyes. "I can certainly help you. However, I am a businessman, and I never do favors for free."
