Sienna remained entirely unmoved. “If you want justice, you should go look for the real killer instead of framing innocent people.”
With that, she moved to brush Daisy's hand away.
But Daisy refused to let go. Clutching Mrs. Bridges's portrait with one hand, she wept hysterically.
Just as Daisy looked ready to collapse and the three influencers were about to slip away, a commotion broke out at the lobby entrance.
Sienna's gaze followed the crowd toward the noise.
There, she spotted an all-too-familiar figure.
Jarred!
He was wearing a black overcoat, his expression thunderous, with Declan Ward and his driver trailing closely behind him.
The moment Daisy saw him, she lunged forward, throwing her arms around his waist. She buried her face in his chest, trembling as she sobbed.
“Jarred... you're here... She... she said the suicide note was fake... she said my mom's voice memo...
I... I don't know what to do... Jarred, please help me...”
She cried like a child abandoned by the entire world.
Jarred looked down at her shaking shoulders, her tear-stained face, and the white-knuckled grip she had on his coat.
His lips pressed into a tight, grim line.
Then, he reached out and gently patted her shoulder.
The stragglers lingering in the lobby witnessed the entire exchange.
A few nurses exchanged bewildered glances.
A young nurse who recognized Jarred whispered, “Isn't that Dr. Sloan's husband?”
Sienna said nothing. Her cool gaze simply locked onto the man standing across from her, who was looking right back.
She knew he had something to say.
Jarred gently detached himself from Daisy and walked over to Sienna.
His eyes held a complicated mix of heartache and guilt.
But what shone through most clearly at this moment was a suppressed layer of impatience.
He lowered his voice, though the people standing nearby could still hear him perfectly.
