Silas's eyes widened. He fell backward onto his rear, his entire body trembling.
Snapping back to his senses, he scrambled to get up and run.
Alister immediately stepped forward and pinned him down.
"You signed Celeste's death certificate." Sienna stood before Silas, looking down at him. "You know she's not dead."
"I..."
"If you don't want to go to prison, tell me everything you know."
Silas's lips trembled for a moment before he suddenly fell to his knees with a thud. "Ms. Sloan, I was forced! It was Mrs. Sterling who made me do it! She gave me a massive sum of money to sign the death certificate. She even made me delete the surveillance footage. If I didn't comply, she threatened to sell my wife and son. I really had no choice!"
Sienna's heart sank.
It really was Helena.
"Where is Celeste now?" Sienna asked.
"I don't know!" Silas cried miserably. "Mrs. Sterling only had me sign the death certificate. I have no idea what happened after that! Ms. Sloan, think about it. If I really knew that much, how could I still be alive right now?"
Sienna frowned slightly.
Before she could speak, Silas continued, "However, when I examined Ms. Carlyle, she truly had no vital signs. Strictly speaking, I didn't break the law. As for how they pulled it off, I have no clue."
Sienna stared deeply into his eyes. "So, you know they faked Celeste's death to help her escape? How do you know that?"
Silas replied, "When I went in to check on Ms. Carlyle, she was perfectly fine. She took a phone call, and when I went back in, she suddenly had no vital signs. Wasn't that obviously fake? Besides, if nothing was really going on, why would the Sterlings pay me off and tell me to go home and retire? Weren't they just trying to buy my silence?"
Sienna kept her gaze fixed on him. "Who else was at the scene besides you?"
"Just me and my assistant. The rest were staff members inside," Silas said. "My assistant doesn't know anything, so please leave him out of this."
Sienna looked at his slightly mocking face and let out a light laugh. "Aren't you afraid the Sterlings will come after you for telling me all this?"
