The next second, her vision plunged into complete darkness.
When Sienna woke up again, she found herself lying in her own bed.
The sunlight outside the window filtered through the sheer curtains. The sun was setting, casting a tranquil glow over everything.
She sat up abruptly and felt the clothes she was wearing.
They were the same ones from this morning.
Her phone rested on the nightstand, next to a bowl of sweet soup that had already gone cold.
The ringtone of her phone suddenly blared. It was Alister calling.
Sienna answered immediately.
On the other end of the line, her subordinate's tone was anxious and panicked, filled with self-blame and terror. "Ms. Sloan! We were all drugged! When I woke up, I found that Silas was gone, and all the video evidence we worked so hard to get had vanished into thin air!"
A loud ringing filled her ears.
Sienna felt her mind go completely blank.
Before leaving for Cloudport, she had specifically ordered a total information lockdown.
To avoid drawing any suspicion, she had even chosen to depart in the early hours of the morning.
Was she being watched the entire time, or was someone... playing a bait-and-switch?
If it was the former, how could they have brought her home completely unscathed?
Sienna suddenly recalled the danger they encountered on the road. Even someone as experienced as Alister couldn't figure out where those attackers came from.
The moment Jarred arrived, everything was resolved.
Jarred was the only one who knew she was going to Cloudport.
He was also the only person she had run into during the entire process.
It wasn't impossible that the forces behind Celeste were making their move.
But right now, Jarred was absolutely the biggest suspect!
Sienna struggled to maintain her clarity, her hands gripping the phone tightly.
"Where are you right now?"
Alister replied, "In the parking lot of that motel in Cloudport. Our car was dumped here. I was out cold for four or five hours, and when I woke up, the car was empty. I'm rushing back to the Capital right now. Ms. Sloan, are you alright?"
