Sienna stared at the man standing not far away, exuding an air of nobility and absolute calm, her own gaze sharp and incredibly clear.
She always maintained total composure in a crisis, never letting surface-level games rattle her.
Even with the situation shrouded in fog and her opponent laying traps at every step, she remained as steady as a mountain.
After a moment, she slowly pulled her gaze away, her voice remarkably cool. "Don't panic. If he's so eager to hand us a victory, I'll gladly take it."
No matter what backup plan Jarred was hiding, a man-made trap would always have a flaw.
Celeste's grave was finally opened.
The workers stepped up immediately, carefully extracting the urn.
The forensic examiner and specialists moved in, pulling the ash samples right in front of everyone and sealing them strictly for processing.
The entire operation took less than fifteen minutes.
Once the evidence collection was complete, the examiner secured the sealed sample.
He turned to Captain Rhodes and Jarred, who stood in complete silence, and gave his report.
"The sample is secured, but since the remains have been incinerated at extreme temperatures, the cellular structure is severely destroyed. Extracting DNA will be highly difficult.
We can't determine authenticity through a visual check. Whether we can extract viable data to determine origin, species, or human tissue match will have to wait until we get to the lab."
"How long until we have results?" Captain Rhodes asked.
"If everything goes smoothly, one to two weeks," the examiner replied. "If not... it could take over half a month. We'll notify you both immediately."
Captain Rhodes nodded and shook the man's hand. "Thank you for your hard work."
The forensics team carried the storage box toward the parking lot.
Captain Rhodes took a few steps after them, then glanced back at Jarred.
Jarred was still standing by the tombstone, watching the box being loaded into the trunk, his expression so calm it bordered on apathy.
Rhodes paused for a second before walking back over, speaking in a low voice.
