Willow let out a soft laugh and asked point-blank, "Did Ethan send you?"
Having her cover blown so effortlessly didn't bother Sienna in the slightest. Instead, she just raised a playful brow. "You are incredibly sharp, sweetheart. I think I'm actually starting to like you."
Willow completely ignored the exaggerated flattery, her tone staying perfectly flat. "Then you can go back and tell him I'm not doing it."
Ethan was a deeply arrogant man who didn't know the first thing about basic respect. Until he marched over and personally apologized, Willow wasn't about to serve herself up on a silver platter just to be insulted again.
To put it bluntly, if they ever got into a creative dispute down the line, Ethan wouldn't hesitate to throw it in her face: You're the one who came crawling to me! You have to listen to me!
Just the thought of dealing with that level of entitlement annoyed her.
To avoid that exact scenario, she absolutely refused to audition.
Sienna hadn't expected her to so casually toss aside an opportunity that millions of musicians would kill for. A flash of genuine shock crossed her face.
She opened her mouth to try again, but Willow simply checked the time. "It's five o'clock. I'm hungry, so I'm heading out for dinner. Would you like to join me, Miss Yale?"
Sienna sighed in defeat. "I think I'll... have to pass."
She still had to go deliver the bad news to Ethan.
Willow didn't push it. She simply turned and left the hall alongside Caspian.
Across the room, Ethan was still waiting for Willow to come walking over. Instead, it was only Sienna returning to his side.
Ethan's carefully maintained expression crumbled. "Where is she?"
"She's not coming," Sienna replied with a helpless shrug.
Ethan let out a harsh, incredulous laugh and slammed his hand against the desk. "What, does she expect me to personally beg her to join?!"
Well, you're the one who insulted her, Sienna thought dryly to herself. Who else is supposed to beg?
He was the one who had trashed Willow's abilities without even bothering to listen to her music first. Now that he had completely alienated her, he still refused to apologize. Where was the logic in that?
"Anyway, I did my best," Sienna said simply.
Too furious to even form a coherent sentence, Ethan just gritted his teeth, stood up, and stormed out of the hall without another word.
He refused to believe this! How long could Willow possibly keep up this arrogant act?!
She couldn't just sit it out forever!
