Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 408

But Willow had dared.

His brows knitted together as he instinctively looked over at Xavier.

The boardroom remained dead silent for two agonizing seconds before one of the executives finally spoke up. "Director Bishop, with this massive PR push, Edenic Bloom's revenue has skyrocketed a hundred times over. If managed correctly, it could easily become a flagship asset for The Shaw Group. Shouldn't we... demand that Willow hand the brand back to the company?"

Barnaby's sharp gaze immediately locked onto the executive. The man ducked his head, clearly aware of just how utterly unethical his suggestion was. Before he could backtrack, Silas eagerly piped up. "I think that's a brilliant idea."

That single sentence instantly drew the attention of everyone in the room.

Silas leaned back with a self-satisfied smirk. "At the end of the day, all of Willow's little stunts are just a desperate ploy to earn her place back in our family. As long as we grant her that wish, she'll happily hand over Edenic Bloom. Don't you agree, Xavier?"

Xavier locked eyes with him, a dangerous, icy glint flashing in his gaze. His voice was laced with lethal gravity. "That brand belongs entirely to Willow!"

Silas just rolled his eyes dismissively. "So what? One word from us, and she’ll be begging to serve it up on a silver platter!"

"Exactly!" another director chimed in aggressively. "Xavier, The Shaw Group's stock has taken a massive hit lately because of your poor leadership decisions. Don't you think it's time you took some responsibility? Reclaiming Edenic Bloom would perfectly balance out our losses. It's for the good of the company. Are you seriously going to stand in the way of that?"

Xavier let out a harsh, incredulous laugh, his furious gaze scorching every face in the room. His voice practically dripped with venom. "For the good of the company? Bullshit! You're only looking out for your own greedy pockets! I am not the sole decision-maker for this company, so stop trying to pin your own failures on me!"

"Furthermore," he paused, his eyes narrowing, "we signed a legally binding betting agreement. Whether Edenic Bloom thrives or burns to the ground, it has absolutely nothing to do with The Shaw Group. That brand is hers and hers alone!"

With that, he shoved his chair back and slammed his hands down onto the mahogany table. "Gentlemen, a human being should have at least a shred of decency and shame. Without that, you're no better than parasitic beasts."

The faces around the room turned a mottled, ugly shade of red. Disgusted, Xavier spun on his heel and stormed out.
