Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95: Consequences (3)

"If you didn’t want what you did out then your wife shouldn’t have been talking so much. Why have an affair in the first place if you were going to be this way? Then she had the nerve to make Gabriel out to be the bad guy," said Oliver.

Oliver liked that the town was seeing Selene’s true ways. She wasn’t innocent in all of this. It was high time that Selene knew her place. He always disliked the money and status she had in the past. Having to go to her for help was insulting.

"I didn’t know Gabriel had such an admirer. You are out to clear his name like a secret lover," Xavier said, not surprised by this. "Don’t look at me like that. I don’t judge what anyone decides to do with their time but I hope you have told your wife."

"I am not fond of him that way you bastard!" Oliver yelled, insulted by the accusation. "I am friends with Gabriel. It is only right that I help to clear his name."

"From what I know, you were friends with Selene. Was she not the one who helped you with your financial problems in the past?" Xavier asked.

Oliver gritted his teeth. "You shouldn’t believe everything she tells you."

"Selene didn’t have to say anything. I know how to gather what I need and many knew you were struggling. When your wife is seen doing work around the home others are bound to notice something is wrong. Lying on Selene was quite pointless since you are still struggling," Xavier said, eyeing the shabby carriage.

It hurt his eyes to look at it.

"You would have been better off coming to Selene for help than speaking poorly of her. Just to see her beg me for something, I would have made sure you were well taken care of but unfortunately, I never liked you from the first time I heard of you," said Xavier.

Before all the lies, Xavier didn’t like the way it was told that Oliver sent Selene out of his home.

It was written in the stars for Oliver to die.

"I don’t need money from her. She has always looked down on us. Why do we need to beg when she could see that we need help? Why must we ask-"

"Because she’s kind not to point out what you want to hide. I can’t take much more of this," Xavier said, annoyed by Oliver’s chatter. This talk was only prolonging when Oliver would die. "It was Gabriel who paid you to do this right?"

Oliver smiled. "So what if it was? Do you think you could do the same?"

"No," Xavier shook his head as he approached Oliver. "I have better plans for you."

Oliver stepped back to put more space between himself and Xavier but he didn’t get too far as his back touched the carriage.

Lucas moved so he wouldn’t be touched. On second thought, Oliver should have tried to run.

"W-Wait," Oliver spoke up. "I can tell you what he told me to do."

Oliver knew there wasn’t any chance he would beat a pureblood, especially one that travelled with one of his followers. He could try to injure Xavier but the wound would heal fast.

"He told you to spread rumours and you used your wife to do it. End of story," Xavier said, reaching for Oliver’s throat just as Oliver dared to move.

Oliver reacted by digging his sharp nails into Xavier’s arms and readied himself to kick Xavier away from him.

"I don’t," Lucas said, taking the head from Xavier’s hand. "There is blood on your shirt. I can burn it for you."

Xavier inspected the blood on the sleeves of his shirt. When he planned to kill Oliver, removing his head wasn’t what he came up with. It happened in the spur of the moment but it guaranteed Oliver was dead.

Xavier took off his shirt so Lucas could dispose of it. The court had a vampire good at picking up scents so they couldn’t take any risk.

Xavier handed the shirt to Lucas. He knew Lucas would work fast with the others to make it so they were never here when Oliver died. "Be back as soon as you can. You know what to do if you run into trouble."

Lucas nodded his head.

Lucas moved fast to gather everything he needed to get rid of as Xavier vanished from where he stood earlier. He didn’t worry about Xavier returning home since no one would look up to see him.

Lucas glanced at the coachman once more. Again, he thought it was best to get rid of the man. They shouldn’t take any chances since Selene already faced accusations of killing a human. What if this man were to remember something?

Lucas thought of killing the man and hiding it from Xavier but he was quick to think of the consequences of Xavier finding out he disobeyed an order. "I like my head on my body,’ he said, getting rid of the thoughts to disobey Xavier.

’Was it for the lady?’ Lucas wondered. Was what he overheard from some of the maids true that Xavier was deeply in love with the lady already?

Lucas turned Oliver’s head around to see his face. "You fool. Is that man next?"
