Chapter 244
1 froze mid brush.
Chloe’s eyes widened. “Trom Gavin?”
That wouldn’t have surprised me.
I shook my head, hesitating for a second before saying, “It’s probably from Zane.” No one else would do something like this.
On the way to the clinic, we hit a patch of traffic that was completely dead, like the road itself had been given anesthesia.
Chloe, who’s miraculously immune to road rage, used the standstill to nudge me and wiggle her eyebrows. “So, last night… Did things still stop where they did the other time?”
Her bluntness made my ears burn. Remembering the scene from last night, I avoided her gaze and muttered, “It was… half and half.”
Chloe looked genuinely confused. “What does ‘half and half even mean?”
She’s my best friend. I had to power through the embarrassment. “It… it just… ended before it really even started.”
Comprehension dawned on Chloe’s face, her eyes going wide. “He finished that fast?”
So brutally direct.
Seeing me bury my face further, Chloe looked like she was about to lose it, trying desperately to hold back laughter for my sake. She turned her head away, shoulders shaking from the sheer effort of keeping it in.
“Just go ahead and laugh,” I sighed, deciding to just own it. I understood. Hell, I’d almost cracked up myself last night. I’d even considered
suggesting we just scrap that ridiculous contract. Seemed pretty pointless now.
“For real?” Chloe whipped her head back around. The second she saw my defeated expression, she completely broke. “Pfft— HAHAHAHA!*
Who could blame her?
The mighty CEO, the capitalist who calls all the shots, totally flopping in the bedroom.
But then, as if some awful memory flashed in her mind, her laughter cut off abruptly.
She scratched her nose, a bit awkwardly.
“So, uh… did Gavin seem… you know, like he was suffering from kidney deficiency to you?”
She knows my medical skills are solid. You don’t always need a pulse reading; observation and questioning are key parts of diagnosis too.
I shook my head. “No, he didn’t seem like it at all. That really shouldn’t be a problem for him.” I was even starting to doubt my own judgment.
“Well then…”
Chloe hesitated, then said, “He’s probably just… never been with a woman before and got a little too excited. Gotta say, I never pegged him for the type who’s been saving himself.”
In their social circle, devoted men were rare enough, but one who’d stayed celibate?
That was practically unheard of.

Chapter 244
Third–person POV
Meanwhile, at the Rivercrest Residence
In the study, the man who’d remained celibate for three decades sat with a face like thunder,
His expression was one of intense focus, identical to the one he wore when dealing with high stakes husiness.
His long, slender fingers scrolled slowly, deliberately, down the tablet screen.
“I think it’s normal. Hell, when my wife and I were first together, I’d finish just from making out. Now, after years of marriage, it’s at least half an hour every time.”
“Normal? How is that normal? My first time with a random girl from a bar lasted a solid twenty minutes.”
“You’re an idiot. Hooking up is totally different from being with someone you actually have feelings for. The more you care about the girl, the more intense it is, the harder it is to last. Especially for some older guy losing his virginity.”
“Don’t make excuses for your premature ejaculation, man. What’s your excuse gonna be if it happens again the second time?”
“If you’re not confident, just work on it first. Don’t try again until you’ve got it under control.”
A muscle near Gavin’s eye twitched. Even though his annual physical had come back perfectly healthy, he still turned and typed another
question into the search bar.
