Chapter 263
I gave a reassuring smile, “Don’t worry.”
Once they were gone, I didn’t start with the needles immediately. I first gave Hannah a gentle full–body massage to relax her muscles and stimulate her circulation. For someone who’d been in a wheelchair for years, it wasn’t just the limbs; the whole body was weaker than a healthy person’s.
Watching my focused expression, Hannah’s gaze grew a little distant. “Dr. Windsor, to be so accomplished at your age… your parents must be incredibly proud of you.”
My hands stilled for a second. “They passed away a long time ago,” I said softly.
“I’m so sorry…”
“It’s alright.”
I helped Hannah loosen her clothes, exposing the acupoints I needed for the session. I opened the packet of alcohol swabs and began meticulously disinfecting each spot.
Seeing the apprehension in Hannah’s eyes as I took out a particularly long needle, I reassured her, “The needles shouldn’t hurt. At most, you might feel a slight numbness or tingling.”
For some reason, she found every word I said completely trustworthy. Hannah relaxed, waiting for me to begin.
And it really didn’t hurt.
My needle insertion was swift and precise. Soon, an array of silver needles of varying lengths were placed at specific points on her body.
I straightened up and walked to the window, drawing the curtains fully open to let the morning sun stream in.
Hannah instinctively squinted. “Dr. Windsor, it’s a bit bright…”
“You need the sunlight,” I said, looking at her pale, bloodless cheeks. “It helps replenish your Yang energy. The temperature is perfect this time of day. It’s ideal. If you’re worried about getting a tan, I know ways to help restore your complexion later. Right now, the priority is healing your legs.”
Seeing the patience in my eyes, Hannah became obedient again.
Halfway through the session, a maid came in to bring me water. Seeing the sunlight streaming directly onto her mistress, she hurried to close the
curtains.
Hannah stopped her. “Leave them. I’d like to soak in the sun for a while.”
The maid was visibly taken aback. Even after leaving the room, she seemed surprised. Ever since their young daughter went missing years ago, the mistress had shunned the daylight. For her to willingly sit in the sun today… it was unheard of.
Alexander and Benjamin were waiting anxiously outside. “What is it?” they asked.
