Billionaire, I Am Not Your Wife! novel Chapter 159

Chapter 151: Stronger Every Day

Sedona’s POV

“At the maple, on Saturday. He collected a leaf for his book.” I watched Drew, who was now crouching very close to the water’s edge doing something with a stick that seemed purposeful but I didn’t know what but it didn’t look like it needed adult intervention so let it go. “He told me about this crow scientific name that I can’t even remember right now which is something that rolls off my tongue but he’s extraordinary,

Lucian.”

“He is,” he said, with the complete simplicity of someone for whom this was just a fact and didn’t seem to be bothered about recognizing it despite it not being his own son.

“Lake is too,” I said. “In a completely different direction.”

“In every direction simultaneously,” Lucian said, and this time the not-quite-smile was visible.

“Lake doesn’t have directions, he has a field. He’s in all of them at once.” He said which was also true considering I have met him and he did all of that.

Across the park grass, Lake was now standing and pointing at something in the water while Drew remained crouched, looking at whatever Lake had pointed to and then providing what appeared to be an explanation of it.

Lake listened with the focused attention he gave to information he considered useful.

They were so different.

And so completely, already, each other’s.

I thought about Nick again. I’d had three calls now.

Each more gave me something that I wasn’t aware that I was missing.

And more aware of what was still not there.

Dante came back from his position by the water and settled beside me on the blanket with the ease he had everywhere, no matter who was around or where he was.

When I finished, Lucian was quiet for a moment.

Dante was looking at the boys, who had moved to the swings. Lake was swinging with the full-body commitment he brought to everything, laughing and shrieking having fun. Drew was swinging slightly, as if he was more interested in the mechanics of the swinging than the actual swinging.

“Cameron would want to help with this,” Lucian said finally. Not a suggestion-just an observation, offered without pressure.

“I know,” I said.

“He’s been-” Lucian paused, choosing. “He’s been asking about his nephew. Not directly. But in the way he asks about things he’s thinking about.”

I looked at Lucian. “He tells you that?”

“He thinks out loud sometimes, like I wonder what my nephew is up to. Because I have a son so most of the time he asks me questions about kids his age might like or do in their spare time” Lucian said. “I happen to be the one who gives him answers. Before you said anything about nick, I assumed maybe Cameron meant another cousin in the family or something because it was just the two of you as siblings and I knew nothing about this. So yeah you should probably talk to your brother about this. He will be able to help you out.”
