Khloe sighed softly.
She used to wish Ethan would stay as far away from Charlotte as possible, but now she actually felt a little sorry for him.
Ethan had spent half his life as a scoundrel, yet his heart turned out to be pure, and once he fell in love, he loved with reckless abandon.
"Compared to what you've all been through, what I've got is nothing. But I'll stay out of sight for a while. She won't want to see me, and if she finds out you came... she'll probably blame me again."
"She'd have every right to. Who told you not to tell me sooner?"
Khloe was only teasing, but Ethan immediately tensed up on the other end. "Khloe! Don't you go accusing me! I wasn't the one who snitched this time..."
Keeping Noah's death from Khloe for now had been a group decision, and Ethan didn't dare go against it on his own.
Khloe had shown up tonight because she had called Ethan herself and demanded answers.
They had overlooked the police. As the key witness in the investigation into Lacuna, Khloe would never be kept in the dark about any major breakthrough in the case.
Even so, she had found out a little late. She had even missed the funeral that day.
When Khloe called, Ethan had been at the cemetery too.
He hadn't stayed with Charlotte. Instead, he had kept watch from a distance outside, for hours on end.
Khloe had seen him when she arrived. He had been smoking in a corner.
The weather had turned cold, yet he was only wearing a thin, open-collared suit, trying to look cool for who knew whose benefit. No wonder he had caught a chill.
Still, it wasn't all bad. Sometimes, when the heart was hurting, feeling even worse physically helped balance it out.
"Rest up and get better. Heartache is hard to cure. I don't want to send you flowers right after sending Noah his."
"Hey, Khloe, you..."
Ethan had just been provoked, and before he could fire back, the line went dead.
Annoyed, he kept yelling at the black screen of his phone. "Khloe, you heartless woman! And here I was, actually grateful to you! You don't have a single kind word for me!
"So to all of you, Noah's the only treasure, and I don't deserve to be treated nicely, huh?"
Khloe looked at the ended call, her heart heavy and bitter.

The readers' comments on the novel: Billionaire's Match (by Tangy Candy)
Angela is a cho-mo... How do you fall hopelessly in love with a fourteen year old boy? How do you see a man in a boy?...
Will more chapters be downloaded? It’s been awhile and I’m still seeing chapter 1175....
When will chapter 1044 and more bd downloaded?...
This is the story that I like reading. The heroine got the hold of the situation right away. No humiliation, no injustice, which keep the readers feeling bad all the way while waiting for the right thing to settle in favor of the heroine. Good storyline, congrats writer!...
