Some things were pointless to rehash.
She asked, "Since you deceived me for so long, why didn't you just deceive me until the end?"
Adrian replied faintly, "You figured it out yourself."
"Nonsense!" Selena was filled with hatred. "Even now, you can't be honest with me for a moment?"
"If you hadn't deliberately acted strange, how would I ever have guessed?"
"Just like this escape. If you hadn't given me the opportunity, how could I possibly have gotten away?"
"It was because of Isabel, wasn't it? That's what made me realize your kindness was just a means to use me."
Adrian remained silent, his attitude seeming to be one of tacit agreement.
"Haha!" Selena burst into laughter, but tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. "So what now, Adrian? You're finished. To deceive me, you broke her heart. She will never love you. You deserve a taste of failure too. Not everyone can be a pawn in your game. You're not confident; you're arrogant! Hahaha!"
Adrian stood there, unmoving as a mountain. After she finished, he simply said in a subdued voice, "Eat your food. As long as I don't let you die, you can't die."
Selena wiped away her tears, her gaze suddenly calm as she looked at him. A bright, genuine smile spread across her lips.
"Adrian, it's time you learned what defeat feels like."
As the words fell, blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, and she collapsed like a falling leaf.
Adrian's brow furrowed. He hesitated for a few seconds before stepping forward.
She suddenly coughed up a large mouthful of blood, her eyes wide open, staring at him.
Adrian's lips pressed into a thin line, his chest heaving. He called for someone to treat Selena.
But the doctor said fearfully, "Mr. Blackwell, she can't be saved. She took a potent poison."
Where did she get a potent poison?
