Adrian punched him, his eyes narrowed. "This is Westbridge."
Julian hadn't fully recovered, and Adrian had thrown the punch with all his strength.
Miles quickly steadied him. Seeing the blood trickle from the corner of Julian's mouth, he was about to lose his temper.
Isabel scrambled out of the car and quickly gave him some medicine. "Miles, get him back to his room."
Miles put Julian in the wheelchair and immediately headed for the hospital room.
Isabel tried to follow but was swept up by the waist.
"Let go!"
Edmund ran over. "Mommy!"
He was about to throw a pill, but Adrian's men restrained him.
The man looked down at him, his gaze filled with disdain. "This is Westbridge."
Edmund's identity was already sensitive in this country and couldn't be flaunted. Admiral Hawke's authority certainly didn't extend here.
In Westbridge, Adrian was a man who could command the wind and rain; he wouldn't be outmaneuvered on his own turf.
Amanda watched anxiously, but she was powerless to help.
Isabel shook her head at her. "Go check on Julian."
Before being forced into the car, she told Edmund, "Don't struggle, you'll get hurt. As soon as they let you go, go find your daddy. Remember that."
Edmund's eyes were red as he stared fixedly at the departing luxury car.
Even after he was released, he stood stubbornly in the same spot.
Amanda sent Leo over to him.
Leo took his hand. "Don't worry, we'll figure something out together."
Amanda walked over. "Listen to your mommy for now. Let's go check on your daddy, and we can all come up with a plan."
Edmund said nothing, just trudged back to Julian's hospital room.
That's what led to that tragic outcome.
She had been looking for a reason to go after the Blackwell family, and now they had delivered one to her on a silver platter.
"Mr. Blackwell, we're still investigating your connections to the Grey Zone. Your actions in covering for Selena and helping her evade justice also constitute a crime. While you haven't been taken into custody, you are currently a person of interest. You can't act as you please, like you used to."
"Especially since I've been assigned to Westbridge to investigate this very matter."
Adrian stood by the car. The snow swirled furiously around him but never seemed to touch him, as if repelled by the menacing aura he exuded.
"If I'm guilty, you can arrest me with evidence. If you have none, then get out of my way."
"Furthermore, Isabel and Julian are not legally married. You have no right to stand here and demand her from me."
Isabel tried to get out of the car, but the doors were locked, and even the windows wouldn't open. The controls were with the bodyguard in the front seat.
And she had nothing on her to break a window.
However…
