Isabel told them to eat first. “I’ll feed Julian.”
Evelyn gave her a suggestive smile.
Isabel was used to it.
She unfolded the small tray table, sat by the hospital bed, and stirred the porridge.
Julian asked her, “Are you confident this will work?”
Isabel replied, “With Selena in the mix, it should be enough.”

In the other room.
After all the doctors had finished their examinations, the conclusion was the same.
“We can’t treat him.”
Mrs. Blackwell refused to believe it. “You’re all renowned professors in the medical field. How can you not treat him?”
Someone said, “I thought I saw Ms. Hayes earlier. Perhaps you should ask her. Her X-1 should be able to save him.”
They had all heard rumors about Isabel and Adrian’s marital problems. By referring to her as ‘Ms. Hayes,’ they weren’t just unafraid of Adrian’s reaction; they were subtly siding with her, hoping to build a good relationship and discuss X-1. The Blackwell family was looking far and wide for a cure when the answer was right here, which clearly indicated their poor relationship with Isabel.
They didn’t want to get involved in the mess.
“She’s not a doctor,” Mrs. Blackwell said dismissively. She didn’t believe it could be such a coincidence. “What exactly is wrong with my grandson that all of you say you can’t treat him?”
A senior professor adjusted his glasses. “It appears he inhaled some kind of harmful gas. We’ll need to run tests to know what it is specifically. The hospital hasn’t given us a definitive report yet.”
The most prominent doctor at Dominion Military Hospital was Dr. Lawson.
Mrs. Blackwell sought him out.
“Mine go through proper, legal trials. I don’t just grab random people to test them on.”
In old Mrs. Blackwell’s case, if Selena had been honest, adjusted the drug formula according to her physical condition, and targeted the treatment, Isabel wouldn’t have said a thing.
But the Y-2 Selena produced was clearly not the right treatment for old Mrs. Blackwell.
Even if it provided temporary relief, the long-term backlash would have been severe.
If she hadn’t discovered it in time, old Mrs. Blackwell would be playing cards with the Grim Reaper by now.
“If you don’t know what you’re talking about, then shut up.”
Adrian’s expression darkened. He used to think Isabel was capable of nothing more than cooking and taking care of the child at home. But he could hire plenty of people to do those things. She wasn’t irreplaceable.
But at this moment, he had to admit that when it came to pharmaceutical research, he truly knew less than she did. After all, he was well aware of the feedback from her press conference.
