Isabel scoffed. "Are you betting I won't dare?"
"I'll call the media and release the story right now."
The media in Westbridge wouldn't dare, but the outlets in Aurelia City would.
Or she could use the Durantin family's media connections. The IP address wouldn't be local, so Adrian wouldn't be able to control it.
With that thought, she was about to hang up.
Adrian's voice cut in. "Think it through. If that story gets out, I might be ridiculed, but you'll be condemned for having an affair."
Isabel wasn't afraid. "I won't be living in this country anymore."
"You're not leaving Westbridge without a divorce," Adrian's voice turned colder. "Did you really think I'd let you cheat on me?"
As he spoke, several bodyguards in black entered the mediation room.
Isabel didn't see the people Kate Caldwell had sent. She gasped. "What are you doing?"
Adrian hung up the phone.
One of the bodyguards said, "Ma'am, it would be best if you came with us willingly. If we have to use force, we might injure your delicate right hand. Also, Mrs. Richard should be heading back. She's not from Westbridge and shouldn't overstay her welcome."
Evelyn grew frantic. "You just try and touch me!"
The bodyguards moved, seizing Evelyn and pulling her away.
Isabel rushed after them and ran right into Adrian at the doorway.
He stood beside an expensive luxury car, dressed all in black, watching everything unfold with a cold, composed demeanor.
"Give it back." She tried to grab it, but Adrian held her back easily with one hand. "He can't take your call right now. If you cause any more trouble, it won't be as simple as a trip to the emergency room."
Isabel slapped him across the face. "You're disgusting."
Adrian seemed used to being hit by her. His expression didn't change as he pocketed her phone.
Neither of them spoke again until the car pulled into the driveway of the villa.
The driver and Daniel, who had been on edge the entire ride after witnessing the slap, now bolted faster than rabbits the moment the car stopped.
Isabel pushed the door open and started to walk away, but Adrian pulled her back.
Isabel glared at him. "Fine. I shouldn't have married you. I can't get a divorce now, I accept that. But remember this, Adrian: I'll hate you for the rest of my life."
"Suit yourself." A tremor went through him, but his face remained impassive.
