The waiter brought their food. Isabel moved Oliver's portion over to his side, positioning the mild broth in front of him. She mixed a dipping sauce he could eat and told him, "Eat lots of vegetables, and eat slowly so you don't burn yourself."
"Okay." Oliver dutifully started adding vegetables to the pot.
Isabel placed some chicken into his side of the pot. "Wait until I tell you it's ready before you eat it. For now, have some vegetables and ham."
She had also ordered him a bowl of fried rice.
Oliver just nodded, being incredibly well-behaved.
Amanda had to suppress a laugh. Sitting next to Isabel, she leaned in and whispered, "This father and son are really cut from the same cloth."
Though the child was a bit better.
When bad genes are passed down, a good upbringing is crucial.
Like with Adrian.
Isabel didn't bother to comment.
"So is your next plan to mass-produce X-1? Have you started talks with the insurance companies?"
"Old Mr. Foster will handle the negotiations."
Amanda ate a piece of beef from the spicy pot, which was incredibly satisfying. "You won't have enough staff, then. Besides me and Felix Lane, are you hiring?"
Isabel replied, "I've been thinking about it, but there's something else I need to handle first."
She still hadn't dealt with her medicinal herb field, but Old Mr. Foster had said someone was taking care of it.
It was just too far away.
She noticed a plot of land at the lab that could probably be used for planting.
After hearing this, Amanda asked, "Aren't we sourcing from the Walsh family? It seems like they've been our provider for years."
"They have," Isabel said. "The Walsh family's herbs are indeed irreplaceable, but I want to try growing some myself. I have Old Mr. Reed's secret methods."
"That works too." Amanda thought of the relationship between Henry Walsh and Adrian. "Saves you the trouble of your half-dead ex-husband trying to sabotage you."

After dinner, Amanda drove Isabel home.
"Where are you heading?"
Oliver wasn't sure either. Maybe everything that had happened today felt a bit unreal, and he was afraid his mother would start ignoring him again, so he followed her instinctively.
"Go back to your room and play. If you want a story, ask Martha. I'm tired today."
Once Oliver was sure Isabel was staying, he turned and left, thoughtfully closing the door behind him.
Martha had cut up some fruit for Isabel, but Oliver stopped her. "Mom's in the shower, and we're stuffed from dinner. We can't eat right now."
Martha had no choice but to put the fruit down and take Oliver to get washed up.
They both smelled strongly of barbecue.
It wasn't until she was leading Oliver into the bathroom that it hit her.
Adrian used to hate that smell. But now, he probably wouldn't say a word even if they had a barbecue at home.

Oliver had bodyguards with him, though they weren't visible.
Following Adrian's orders, Daniel called them.
