This really was something to celebrate.
Their group went to a restaurant.
They drank a bit too much.
Victor Ashford held her and wouldn't stop crying.
Vivienne wiped away her own tears beside him.
Isabel was at a bit of a loss.
She'd never had to comfort an elder crying like this. Her mother was a strong woman, and her other relatives were all very capable people.
They would never cry in front of someone younger like her.
"I didn't even cry this hard when my old man passed away," Julian Reed said, his tone characteristically irreverent. "This is a happy occasion, no need to waste tears. You should be smiling, or you'll cry your daughter away again."
His words worked. Mr. Ashford immediately stopped his tears, and Mrs. Ashford sniffled and stopped crying as well.
Isabel silently gave him a thumbs-up. But after dropping her parents off at the hotel and talking with them, she went to find Julian before she left.
When old Mr. Reed passed away, Julian hadn't seemed sad, but he was holding it all in.
Not crying meant the pain was at its deepest.
"Here's some comfort." She gave him a hug.
Julian had been about to light a cigarette, but seeing her approach, he tucked it behind his ear and patted her on the back.
"Alright, I'll take it."
Isabel asked him, "Are you heading straight back to Aurelia City?"
Julian said, "Speaking of which, shouldn't I be compensated for my house?"
"How much?"
"Are you paying?"
Isabel shook her head. "Of course not. Whoever broke it pays for it."
Julian snorted. "Then he probably won't pay."
Isabel went to the hospital, but Adrian Blackwell wasn't there. They said he had been discharged to recover at home.
After all, his life wasn't in danger.
Isabel immediately returned to Halcyon Hills Residence and ran right into Daniel Price. "Ma'am."
She didn't say anything.
"Also, he's not to make any demands of me. If he wants to get better, he has to divorce me."
Daniel didn't dare relay the message. "Ma'am, I have something else to..."
Isabel had learned how to make threats now. After all, when she had been polite, others hadn't reciprocated, so now they could all be miserable together.
"If you don't go tell him, then I'll tell him you have a crush on me."
What could he do?
Daniel had no choice but to relay Isabel's message.
After hearing it, Adrian actually laughed. "Perfect. Give her everything that's hers. The company shares from the prenuptial agreement, and what Grandma wanted to give her. Get it all done at once."
It was enough money for Isabel to live lavishly for several lifetimes, more than enough to fund any experiment she wanted.
"Take the compensation for Julian out of my portion. And tell him to stop thinking about my wife."
Whether she was still his wife was another matter entirely.
Daniel only complained internally. Outwardly, he agreed and immediately went to handle it.
Within a few days, everything was settled.
