Chapter 21

HUNTER

Claim. That’s all I could think about. Even if she set me up. Even if she carried the same stain as the monster who’d f**ked me up beyond repair. None of it mattered when she was under me. I wanted to f**king claim her.

As my release tore through me in violent bursts, the urge to sink my teeth into her neck nearly ripped me apart. I wanted my beast to show himself, to take her the way he wanted. To knot her and make her mine forever. The need was so overwhelming that my whole body shook.

She’d done this to me before. Shaken my beast so completely that all reasoning flew out of the damn window. I should have escaped, like the last time. Instead, I clutched her tighter, as if letting go meant falling straight back into the abyss I’d been drowning in since those girls got butchered.

But Kitty had dragged me out of that darkness, and I wasn’t ready to let it swallow me again.

When I finally released her, she tilted her head up, her emerald eyes glittering. And then she wrenched free from my hold, scrambling back across the sheets with horror carved on her face.

Was my beast scaring her? Was the truth dawning on her? That she’d gone after the Lycan King, the one beast who could rip her to pieces without consequence?

It didn’t matter. I’d just found my salvation between her legs. It was fragile, uncontrollable and dangerous, but she was the only person who’d given me a glimpse of that peace since I took the crown. I needed her, no matter what game she was playing. Besides, I’d yet to figure out if she was being threatened. I couldn’t let her go now.

So I forced the beast back, smoothed the edges off my voice, and met her gaze again.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, closing the distance.

“I… Your eyes,” she whispered, her voice shaky. “I thought… Never mind, I think I’m just tired.”

I smirked. “Already? But we’re just getting started, Kitty. Might as well get your money’s worth.”

I hooked her ankle, dragging her back under me. I’d made a mess of her. Her lips were bruised, and if I hadn’t held back, I’d have wrecked her throat, too. Humans were fragile. She’d test every ounce of

my control.

Last time I f**ked her, I’d spent the night clawing at my sanity, unable to rein in my beast. But now, with her in my arms, I was content. Maybe that was the answer. Keep her close. I’d keep my sanity and dig out the truth faster.

“I don’t know if I can go again,” she whispered, but her cheeks were already flushed, and her eyes were hungry for me.

I liked that about her. She couldn’t fake this part. Everything else might be a lie, but this hunger for me was real. The only honest thing between us. To be looked at as if I was worth something… F**k, I couldn’t even put words to it.

Too bad she was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

“You can,” I murmured, my thumb dragging over her bottom lip. “You’ll go until your voice is hoarse from screaming my name. Until every inch of your body remembers me. Until I’ve filled you so deep, you’ll be dripping for days.”

Her breath caught. She liked that. Goddess, she liked it too much. The air was already saturated, but that fresh bloom made me heady. For someone who’d been untouched just days ago, she was eager. Already starved. Did she even know what that did to a man?

My hand slid down to cup between her legs. My cum was already dripping out of her. The sound I made- low, satisfied-was almost a growl. Two fingers slipped inside, and she arched, her body begging for more.

I replaced my fingers with my cock, burying myself to the hilt. Her nails raked across my back, and her body arched to take all of me. It was hard to find a human who could do that, but it was like Kitty’s body was made for me. Made to take my knot.

The thought made me swell inside her.

“Hunter,” she moaned, grinding up to meet my slow thrusts.

Definitely made to take a knot.

She didn’t resist, didn’t flinch. My head knew I couldn’t do it, not with a human, but my heart… It raced with a hope I’d never dared to entertain.

“So good,” she gasped.

Then her walls clamped around me, pulling me deeper. It took everything I had not to lose control. Unable to move, I watched as she fell apart for me, sweat beading on her flushed skin. She was beautiful. I’d noticed it before, but it hit me differently now.

Kathrine ‘Kitty’ Munroe was stunning in a way I’d only seen once before. But now I knew Katerina Lordswood would never compare.

When I could move again, I pulled out, groaning as I came across her stomach and chest. The sight of her sprawled beneath me, breathing hard, covered in sweat and cum, carved itself into me. Pride swelled in my chest, as primal and possessive as the night I’d taken her virginity.

“Good girl,” I whispered.

Her lips curled in a faint smile before her eyes fluttered shut. Moments later, her breathing evened out. She’d fallen asleep.

I grinned like a fool as I cleaned her up and settled her on her side of the bed. Her side. Goddess help me, I was already thinking like that.

When her alarm rang, I silenced it. I’d give her the day off. Perks of f**king the boss. By the time I hit the shower and started on breakfast, following her rules, I was still grinning.

Until I checked my phone. Elijah had called, and there were countless messages from the Bureau.

The grin dropped off my face. Guilt clawed its way back in. This bastard had broken me, and I’d gone and buried myself in Kitty instead of facing it.

Couldn’t I hide from all this shit just for a day?

I would. F**k it. I switched the phone off and stuffed it back into my pocket. Kitty walked out of the bedroom just as I set our plates on the new coffee table. She was fresh from the shower, but my scent was still all over

her.
