Chapter 462 Leverage

The Southern Alpha did not summon people unless he already knew what he wanted. When I was told to come, I didn’t rush, but I didn’t delay either. Both would have been read as weakness.
I was taken through the private elevator, past two levels that weren’t marked on any public plans. Security was heavier than usual. That told me the North had moved again, even if they hadn’t succeeded.
When the doors opened, he was already inside the room, standing by the long window that overlooked the southern districts. His back was to me.
“You were late,” he said.
“By three minutes,” I replied. “On purpose.”
He turned slowly. His expression was calm, but his eyes were sharp. “You assume that gives you leverage.”
“No,” I said. “I assume you called because something didn’t go the way you expected.”
He gestured to the chair across from him. I sat, keeping my posture relaxed.
“The North is restless,” he said. “Daniel is making noise without making mistakes. That irritates me.”
“It should,” I said. “He’s learning.”
The Southern Alpha didn’t like that answer. He leaned forward, resting his hands on the table. “Your last operation almost cost us a layer of insulation.”
“Almost,” I said. “But it didn’t. They arrived minutes too late.”
“Because you moved her,” he said.
“Yes.”
“You moved her because you were tipped off.”
“Yes,”
“Which means there is a leak,” he said. “And leaks become liabilities.”
I met his gaze. “The leak is not on my side.”
“That remains to be proven,” he said.
I didn’t argue. Arguing implied doubt. Instead, I changed direction.
“Daniel followed a medical trail,” I said. “That wasn’t accidental. He’s narrowing his scope. Not fast enough to stop us, but fast enough to be dangerous.”
The Southern Alpha nodded once. “Which is why the North needs to be shaken again.”

“Yes,” he replied. “The last disruption targeted his authority. It worked, but it didn’t break him.”
“Because he still has hope,” I said. “As long as he believes Amy is alive, he’ll keep thinking clearly.”
“And if that hope becomes unstable?” he asked.
“Then his decisions will fracture,” I said. “He’ll rush or freeze. Either one helps us.”
He sat back. “So what do you suggest?”
I paused before answering. This part mattered.
“We stop reacting,” I said. “No more responding to his movements. We create pressure points he can’t ignore.”
“Such as?” he asked.
“Resources,” I said. “Reputation. Internal trust.”
Te tapped his fs once on the table. “Those are slow.”

ntil he makes a mistake big enough to justify escalation,” I said.
The Southern Alpha stood and walked back to the window. “You’re asking for patience.
I’m asking for discipline,” I corrected. “Impatience is what gets people exposed.”
He gave a short laugh. “You’re speaking as if you aren’t already exposed”
I didn’t deny it. “I’m useful now. T

“That’s not what you said before,” he noted.
“She’s effective,” I said carefully. “But she’s starting to think ahead of instruction.”
“That’s dangerous,” he said.
“Yes,” I agreed. “For her.”
“For us,” he corrected.
“Only if she believes she’s protected,” I said. “She’s not.”
The Southern Alpha nodded slowly. “Good. Make sure she understands that.”
“I already have,” I said. “Cole’s capture rattled her.”
“Cole didn’t talk,” he said.
“Not yet,” I replied. “But fear works faster than interrogation.”
He considered that. “What about the club?”
“It’s secure,” I said. “But visibility is increasing. High–level wolves talk.”
“Shut it down?” he asked.
“No,” I said. “Tighten it. Reduce access. Keep the debts in place. The men who go there are leverage.”
His jaw tightened slightly. “You think in terms of pressure.”
“I think in terms of outcomes,” I said.
There was a brief silence.
“Daniel is assembling something,” the Southern Alpha said. “I don’t know what yet. But he’s bypassing councils and treaties.”
“I know,” I said. “That’s why we let him.”
He raised an eyebrow. “You want him to act alone.”
“Yes,” I said. “Because when he does, he won’t have cover.”
“And if he finds her?” he asked.
“He won’t.” I said. “Not yet.”
“You’re confident,” he said.
“I’m prepared.” I replied. “There’s a difference.”
He walked back to the table and placed a small device between us. This is the next phase. You’ll

coordinate with logistics directly. No intermediaries.”
I looked at it but didn’t touch it. “And if things go wrong?”
His expression hardened. “Then you will be the first to absorb the fallout.”
I nodded once. “Understood.”
“Good,” he said. “Because the North is about to feel pressure from three sides.”
“Business,” I said.
“Loyalty,” he added.
“And time,” I finished.
He smiled faintly. “Exactly.”
As I stood to leave, he spoke again. “One more thing”
I turned.
“If Amy’s condition worsens,” he said, “we adjust. She is valuable alive. She is more valuable as leverage. But she is not irreplaceable.”
I held his gaze. “Daniel would disagree.”
“That’s why Daniel will lose,” he said.
I left the room knowing one thing for certain.
The North wasn’t being attacked head–on anymore.
It was being squeezed.
I returned to the lower levels with that thought settling in my mind. Pressure didn’t need noise to work. It only needed time and coordination.
Daniel was still moving, still searching, still hoping. That was useful. As long as he chased shadows, the real plan stayed untouched.
