“So?” he asked.

“It was Mark,” I said.

“How bad?” he asked.

“She was the goal,” I said.

I looked up at him. “It does.”

We sat in silence for a moment. Then I straightened. “I want a full sweep. Everyone who had access to movement logs, medical scheduling, or cross–territory comms during Amy’s captivity. No exceptions. No courtesy delays.”

Cole nodded. “Already started. But Daniel… this is going to widen.”

“That explains some things,” she said quietly.

“Like what?”

“The way he watched,” she replied. “The confidence. He wasn’t afraid of being caught. He was waiting for something to fall.”
