No announcement. No delay. Northern security moved with precision, not urgency. That told me this wa not about intimidation.
It was about containment. Cole led the escort himself. He did not speak to me during the ride. I did not expect him to.
The holding facility was not the same one Clara occupied. This one was deeper inside the compound, bu for long–term detainment and questioning.
Clean walls. Reinforced doors. Surveillance that did not pretend to be discreet.
They took my personal effects. I did not resist. Resistance would have been recorded, interpreted, and us I had learned long ago that silence could be more disruptive than defiance.
The cell door closed. Lock engaged. One chair. One table. Water. Nothing else.
I waited.
It took three hours before anyone came in. That was deliberate. The waiting was meant to unsettle timing not nerves. I remained seated, posture neutral, eyes forward.
Daniel entered without guards.
That was new.
He closed the door himself and took the chair opposite me. He did not sit immediately. He looked at me first. Not with anger. With assessment.
“You crossed into Northern territory under agreement,” he said. “Everything that happens here is record
“I assumed as much,” I replied.
“You are here because the Southern Alpha agreed to conditional access,” he continued. “That access can b withdrawn.”
“Only if I refuse to speak,” I said.
“Or if you lie,” he corrected.
I leaned back slightly. “Then let us be clear about what you want.”
He sat. “I want structure. Timeline. Names. Authorization chains.”
“You already have Clara,” I said.
“Yes,” he replied. “And she gave us her version.
I nodded. “She would.”
“And Mark he added.

He studied me. “You planned for failure.”
“Yes,” I said. “Every operation plans for failure.”
“And Clara?” he asked.
“She was leverage,” I said. “Not command.”
“Mark?” he asked.
“Access,” I said. “Not loyalty.”
“And Amy?” he asked.
I paused.
“She was pressure,” I said. “Against you.”
Daniel’s jaw tightened. “You knew she was pregnant.”
“Yes,” I said.
“That changes nothing for you?” he asked.
“It changes outcomes,” I replied. “Not intent.”
He stood. “This is not a negotiation.”
“No,” I agreed. “It is accounting.”
He left the room without another word.
The second session came faster. Two elders present. Cole at the back. Daniel returned, expression unchanged.
“We are opening formal inquiry,” the elder said. “Your statements are now part of record.”
“Understood,” I replied.
“Did the Southern Alpha approve the abduction?” the elder asked.
“Yes,” I said.
There was no point delaying now. The delivery had already been made. They needed confirmation. I needed positioning.
“Directly?” the elder asked.
“No.” I said. “Through standing authority.”
“Explain,” the elder said.
“He authorized destabilization.” I said. “Targets were left to my discretion.”
“That includes Amy,” Daniel said.

He left.
I was returned to my cell. Time passed differently now. Not waiting. Counting.

By the next day, the compound was louder. Movement increased. Security doubled. Information flowed faster than it could be contained.
I heard it through guards who thought I was asleep. Outer packs reacting. Council divisions tightening. Mark being isolated.
