“Through Elias,” he said.

“About Amy,” he said.

Daniel’s jaw tightened slightly. He kept his voice level. “Why?”

I swallowed. “Because I thought it would weaken you.”

“Why?” he repeated.

I looked down at my hands. “Because I hated that you had what I lost.”

The silence that followed was complete. Even the observer did not move.

Daniel finally spoke. “Say it clearly.”

“I was engaged to Amy,” I said. “Before Clara.”

“That’s established,” he said. “Continue.”

“She chose me,” I said. “Until I made mistakes.”

“Mistakes,” he repeated.

“Yes,” I said. “Clara made herself unavoidable. I didn’t stop. I let it become public. I humiliated Amy without meaning to.”

“That’s generous phrasing,” he said.

I nodded. “She left me. And then she was given to you. You were unconscious. You didn’t choose her.”

“But you enabled it,” he said.

“Did you inform the Southern Alpha of her condition?” he asked.

“No,” I said. “That was Elias’s domain.”

“Convenient,” Daniel said.

“True,” I replied.

He studied me. “What did you expect to gain?”

I answered without thinking. “Time.”

“For what?” he asked.

“For her to see you differently,” I said. “For you to fail. For me to matter again.”

The words sounded smaller when spoken aloud,

“You don’t love her,” Daniel said.

I nodded. “What do you want?”

“Everything,” he said. “Full disclosure. No framing. No omissions.”

I exhaled slowly. “Then I’ll tell you something Elias didn’t.”

Daniel waited.

“The Southern Alpha has contingency plans,” I said. “If this inquiry crosses a certain line.”

“What line?” Daniel asked.

“Formal accusation,” I replied. “Not implication. Charge.”

“And what happens then?” he asked.

“He will force fragmentation,” I said. “Trade collapse. Alliance withdrawals. Proxy unrest.”

“You’re speculating,” Daniel said.

“No,” I replied. “I saw the outlines. I helped move early pieces.”

The observer’s pen paused.

“Why tell me now?” Daniel asked.

“Because I’m out of options,” I said. “And because I no longer want that future.”

Daniel stood. “You don’t get to choose motives now. Only usefulness.”
