Seeing this, Rachel hurriedly took Hudson’s hand. “Come on, I’ll take you to the supermarket and buy you a toy.”

She knew full well that the amount of money on it must be beyond anything she could imagine. But she had already made up her mind. What she needed now was not money, but connections and opportunities.
The more Hugh tried to make amends, the more determined Megan became to reject him. She wanted him to carry that guilt, to feel he owed her. She believed that once he divorced Bethan, the role of Mrs. Cavill would be
hers.
Megan wanted to marry him rightfully, to become the lady of the Cavill family, the most powerful household in New York.
With a look of guilt, she said softly, “Hugh, my son and I have already brought you so much trouble. If I take your money too, I’ll have no right to stay here.”
