Chapter 171 This Was Going to Be Interesting
During the latter part of the dinner, Bethan got up to go to the restroom.
As she came out, she unexpectedly bumped into Megan and Elsie.
Elsie, dressed in flashy designer brands, sized Bethan up disdainfully. “The so-called Mrs. Cavill dresses so shabbily. It seems Mr. Cavill doesn’t care much about you.”
Bethan glanced at Megan and ignored Elsie’s provocation.
She didn’t want to waste a single second on such a boring
person.
After washing her hands, she left the restroom.
Megan sent Elsie away and then trotted after Bethan.
Looking around to make sure the corridor was empty, she asked, “Mrs. Cavill, are you really willing to divorce Hugh and help me and my son?”

Bethan had had a bit of wine and felt a little dizzy, but her mind was still clear.
She stared at Megan for a few seconds and then nodded. “Sure.”
Megan’s face darkened, her eyes full of doubt. “Then how are you going to help me?”
Hugh had suddenly confronted her. If she hadn’t sworn on her son’s life, Hugh, with his personality, would never have let her off easily.
Hugh clearly told her that he acknowledged Hudson only for her and her son’s safety.
She was completely at Hugh’s mercy. Before Hugh divorced, she couldn’t show her true intentions.
Megan had to be sure if Bethan’s words about divorce and helping her were sincere.
Bethan was caught off guard by Megan’s question.
After a moment’s hesitation, she said, “Don’t be

impatient. Just wait for the right opportunity.”
Megan couldn’t hold back her impatience. “Mrs. Cavill, don’t try to fob me off.”
She then probed. “Yesterday afternoon, Hugh came to my place. He said he wanted to stay the night and spend time with me and our son. I finally managed to persuade him to go home. I really want to get along well with you. If you can’t bear to divorce Hugh, I don’t mind just living like this.”
Bethan stared at Megan calmly.
So, after dropping her off at her parents’ place yesterday afternoon, Hugh had gone to see Megan.
How good he was at acting in front of her!
Just then, Arthur suddenly popped up. “Bethy, why do you keep running into this ugly woman?”
His words froze Megan’s expression on the spot.
Bethan cast a backward glance at Arthur before turning
Megan. “Ms. Ridley, I gave my word. It’s a decision1ve

thought long and hard about, and I’m not going back on it.”
Hearing this assurance, Megan’s sour expression eased a
bit.
She tried to hold onto her dignity and said, “Mrs. Cavill, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt this time.”
Bethan watched Megan scurry off, then calmly shifted her
gaze.
Megan was ambitious yet timid. She wouldn’t dare to act rashly, especially against Hugh.
And Hugh was shrewd and ruthless, always in control.
It seemed that if Bethan wanted to reach her goal, she’d have to play the bad guy.
She shrugged off Arthur’s hand on her shoulder. “Mr. Locke, can you come to the hospital to see me tomorrow morning?”
Arthur cleared his throat. “Sure thing. But I just moved Anto

look? I’m worried the place’s vibe is gonna mess with my sleep.”
Bethan retorted, “I’m a doctor, not a fortune teller.”
Arthur grabbed her and started tugging her along. “What you are doesn’t matter. As long as you can help me sleep.”
“Mr. Locke, I came here with my colleagues. Let me go in and tell them I’m leaving.”
Despite Bethan’s resistance, Arthur dragged her out of
the hotel.
Once they were in his souped-up sports car, Bethan quickly called Tristen to explain the situation.
The car sped into Blue Bay Community and pulled up in front of Bethan’s unit.
She opened the door and got out. “Mr. Locke, I’m a married woman. Are you out of your mind moving in here?”
“If I weren’t sick, why would I come to you?”

Arthur pulled her into the elevator, and they went straight to the 11th floor.

He opened the door with a flourish. “Just bought this place. Surprised?”
