Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189 Contradictory

Finally, it was Megan’s turn to roll the dice.

Lucky Draw

With everyone’s expectant eyes on her, she rolled an eight.

Bethan felt a pang of disappointment.

A seven would’ve given Megan the chance to feed Hugh the drug mouth-to-mouth.

Amid the cheers, Megan touched Hugh’s hand. Bethan wrinkled her nose in disgust, finding it boring.

Noticing that Hugh didn’t pull his hand away, Megan felt a secret thrill.

Out of the corner of his eye, Hugh caught Bethan watching him and Megan with an expression even more over-the-top than Mason’s.

His face darkened right away.

“Get your filthy hand off me!” Gwen, who’d had enough,

up and slapped Megan’s hand away.

Megan gave Hugh a pitiful look. “Come on, Gwen. It’s just a game. Don’t overthink.”

Gwen shot Megan a venomous glare and muttered, “Slut,” before plopping back into her seat.

Hugh gave Gwen a warning look, and she turned away angrily.

Then it was Hugh’s turn.

He casually glanced at Bethan and rolled the dice calmly.

When everyone announced he’d rolled a nine, Bethan leaned in excitedly.

“Quick, pour the wine!” she urged Megan.

This was the moment she’d been waiting for.

As Megan fumbled to get the wine, Bethan picked up a piece of fruit and offered it to Hugh, trying to distract him.

As he saw Bethan come over to feed him, Hugh’s bad 2/7

mood from earlier in the night started to lift a bit.

What a contradictory woman.

She claimed not to care, but it was obvious she did.

Lucky Draw

She’d been so tense before, worried he’d roll a seven or eight and get all cozy with Megan in front of her.

But the second Bethan heard it was a nine, she was all over him.

Hugh eyed the fruit but didn’t reach for it.

To cover for Megan, Bethan brought the fruit right up to his lips.

Just then, there was a loud crash. Bethan turned to see that, in her nervousness, Megan had knocked a wine glass off the coffee table.

As the glass broke, all eyes immediately turned to Megan.

She exchanged a quick look with Bethan.

Béthan pouted and tossed the fruit she’d intended to feed

Hugh onto the plate.

Lucky Draw

Hugh sat there stoically, his eyes fixed on the piece of fruit that had landed on the plate.

Seeing Hugh’s gloomy expression, Megan quickly got up to apologize.

Mason called over a waiter to clean up, then, in an attempt to lighten the mood, he handed the dice to Gwen, reminding her to continue the game.

Gwen shot Megan a venomous look. She rolled the dice with all her might and got an eight.

“Mason, come here,” she commanded, pointing at him.

Everyone whooped and hollered.

Mason took a startled step back. “Can’t you pick someone else?”

He’d organized this gathering and allowed Megan here, which had ticked Gwen off.

He knew she wouldn’t go easy on him.

Seeing Mason acting like a shy girl, Gwen got even more annoyed.

She marched up to him and smacked his butt hard.

After the slap, Gwen glared at Mason. “It’s just a touch, for crying out loud. You’re not gonna lose a thing. What are you hiding for?”

Mason rubbed his stinging butt, but still forced a smile and helped Gwen back to her seat. “Does your hand hurt? Want me to blow on it?”

Arthur nudged Bethan. “Bethy, is that girl Mason’s Achilles’ heel?”

Bethan watched Mason and Gwen. “Mason’s just got a good temper and tends to spoil girls.”

She wasn’t sure if Gwen was Mason’s “Achilles’ heel”, but it was true that Mason had been pushed around by her since they were kids.

Bethan’s gaze gradually shifted, landing on Megan and

Hugh.

Hugh wore a stony expression, holding a glass of wine and lost in thought.

Meanwhile, still shaken by what had just happened, Megan sat meekly beside Hugh, hardly daring to breathe.

Bethan then glanced at her phone to check the time.
